this might be a simple question, and im no expert in the area of how the cams and lifters work, but can you grind off, say .5mm off the base circle of the '79 cams to make them almost the same lift as the euro cams?? since the lifters are hydr., how much can they pump up to take up the slack? if they cant, i bet that would create a huge racket!!!!!!! *(and a ugly removal process of the cams after the engine is already in!) when are lash caps nesessary?
anyway, make sure the intake you get is for the euro -84-85, otherwise you will have to use the US runners. If you do that, i would just send the runners out to be extrude honed which brings them up to euro spec. (1.5" to 1.6" inner diameter).
this is because the euro 83 and earlier runners fit the CIS injectors vs the standard injector that a Ljet or LHjet would use.
