rust color liquid
Hi all. Recently I've noticed a rust colored liquid dribbling out of the drivers side head light mister (the thing that squirts washer fluid on the lights)
any ideas what might be going on? I assume I have to take off the nose to really take a look. Any hints on that operation?
Thanks

Ah, this weeekends operation was to pull and repair my washer assembly. Dunno bout the dribbling, but...
The headlight washers are fed from the pump at the bottom of the washer tank (behind the passenger-side wheel well cover). From there, it passes forward to the headlight washers through either a pair (old style) or a single check valve to hold fluid in the forward lines.
When I pulled the tank, both the lower pump and the level sending unit were caked with a rust-colored sludge. Definitely NOT the color of washer fluid. Worth a check.
You should not need to pull the nose - which I understand is quite an operation. Follow the clear braided hose from the lower pump into the engine bay and then forward if you need to examine the feed lines.
My .928 cents - clean the tank/pump first.
Good luck.
