Have you tried adjusting the base idle? I had to do that on my ’85.

Shawn came over today and tried to smoke test it with a stage type smoker, nix that idea in the future. We soaked everything with soap and pressurized the system and found a intake leak in the second front drivers port. I used honda bond on it and was surprised it leaked it was tight I checked the bolt before removing it.
Also there is a Vacuum control heat sensor that goes before the heat control unit, does anyone know what this does and can I eliminate it.

That is tied into the smog equipment, which I don't run so I always delete it.

I built a french test rig to pressurize the TB unit and I found two leaks, look for the last 3 video's to see it real time. I heard this really does not make a difference and maybe normal.

Imo
Your right I need to adj the base idle and I believe the MAF any feedback. The idle is 200 lower than before and AF is real lean makes me think the MAF needs adjusting.

Any one have an opinion on the amount of leaking, I am about to go find a carb shop to put in a new bushing if I need it. I have no base line to know if this is too much leakage.

Mark, that 2nd video is a little hard to watch. Its so shaky its hard to tell whats going on. What PSI were you using to test?

I can't imagine that a small amount of air like that is causing your issues. I might be wrong though... it wouldn't be the first time.

I tend to agree with you it maybe an maf issue, but the ? is do I put this back together the way it is and is this a normal condition. I'm not sure how many people have pressurized there system like this. I maybe over analyzing this not unusual for me.

I don't know if this amount of leakage is significant. In theory, the intake should hold pressure. Porsche has a test for leaks by plugging the MAF inlet and pressurizing to 5 PSI and listening for leaks (see below - this is done with the MAF and intake on the car). Leaks at the throttle shaft are common with age on carbs and throttle bodies but rarely cause any performace or idle issues. It would be better if there were no obvious leaks. I haven't tried to have the throttle shaft bushings replaced.

This comes back to a subjective issue, blonds or brunettes me I like Asian's. The vacuum is holding fine at 18-20 Lb's so I guess thats a good indicator.

Did you check the idle switch?
