The stock wiring is OK up to 100W but not above...

It still isn't great because it will drop more voltage at this power level so you won't achieve the full brightness you could get with uprated wiring and a relay kit.

If you do install a relay kit - I don't recommend using the front jump post. This may seem like a good idea but it isn't - the wiring from the jump post to the alternator is also fairly inadequate so I'd run new wiring direct from the alternator main terminal - do fuse it as soon as practical - I prefer before the relay - though Porsche usually does after...

Can't I just run new wire right to the fuse block or is it easier to just run it to the alternator??

You make it sound like that's the easy option .. it isn't by far!

If you try to run new wiring back to the fuse panel - you will realize it is really very hard to do... and much longer than it needs to be (bad)... and still gets fed via the jump post anyway (bad)...

So back to what I said... feed it direct from the alternator... its actually a pretty easy option.

Running good new wire (10 or 12 gauge) from a power source as close to the lights as possible is the best way, with good soldered terminals. That would be the alternator. If you tap the fuse block you're just reusing the stock 20-year-old wiring, and I wouldn't use uprated bulbs in that.

I bought the kit from Daniel Stern Lighting www.danielsternlighting.com and he provided lots of information and great service. His wiring diagrams lay it out clearly. Basically you just run power to the relays with the stock wiring (very small power requirement) and power the lights with the new wiring directly from the alternator - minimal voltage drop and maximum power possible. The articles on his site explain it all in great detail.
