There are several Porsche domain names asvailable, both on eBay and through other venues.

There has been a lot of legal wrangling about using brand names that don't "belong" to you on the net. It is generally accepted that using a name like Porsche, or Disney, etc., for commercial purposes is forbidden. There might even be a problem if that were your name and you were using it for personal reasons.

On the other hand, catchin' comes before hangin'!

Its referred to as "squatting," which has proved to be illegal. The person who will get screwed is the smuck you pays a grand to get sued.

More than a few folks here remember the Porschelist and Porschefans listservers that preceded Rennlist. Porsche was and is diligent in protecting the tradename, up to and including threats of legal action against those who dare use the family name on a web service. You'll notice that a lot of the older websites have changed their names to avoid a conflict that could cost a lot of legal dollars.

So, before you start your investment in a sure thing, you might want to look to make sure that history doesn't repeat itself all over you.

Cheers!

Read the ad again; he actually says it all:

"Seller makes no warrantees or guarantees as to the value of the names listed, their potential value, any assurance of their increasing in value, their marketablity, useability, infringements or effectiveness in benefiting winning bidders useages."

Scumbag. It would be sweet to see Porsche make an example of him.

To boot, he doesn't even own the domain names.

Be funny if someone bought them for $35 & he couldn't deliver to someone stupid enough to bid on them for $1000.
