I bought it for $2500

* runs well
* significant amount of interior damage (center console, leather dash, under hatch)
* "!" light comes on and goes away
* no tools, compressor, spare, manual
* previous owner put a bright yellow Maaco paint job on it (all over the trim)-- destroyed the manhole wheels-- and neglected this big-bottomed lady.

I figure $4k in work and she's fine once again.
I have spent the last 5 days obsessively searching the web-- phoning Devec and Parts Heaven-- ordering the basics from 928intl-- and learning ALL I can.... for I am a PorscheNewbie.

(note: I will spend the next week reading archives of this site heheheheheheeee)

zilla '82,

Go for it, Dude!

Don't be afraid to ask questions. Event the seemingly obvious stuff can throw you off. (read the A/C stuff I asked about).

2 words of advice- Timing belt.

A great place to start.

Good luck,
Greg

Congratulations, Zilla!

I had no information on the car when I posted this. It seems you've gotten yourself a nice challenge here...

Please join us on Mai 4 at Tilden Park in Berkeley for the annual Sharks in the Park gathering! You can find detailed information at http://www.billsworkshop.com/P928S4/park/sharks_in_the_park_II.htm. Please contact Bill Ball, and let him know you are planning to attend. Then he can also put you on his mailing list for future events like this.

Also, have you seen the following websites:

Porsche 928 Maintenance Tips and Procedures

Good luck! Hope to see you in May!

Congrats! It is great to see somebody saving another Shark!

Be sure and ask questions and post some pictures along the way.
