Post Flappy valve testing

My flappy valve doesnt open on my 89 GT,i have tested the solinoid with a 12v feed and the solinoid clicks, also i connected up a test lamp to the solinoid plug and reved the car up to 4000rpm where the light comes on,so the solinoid is getting its power, now as soon as you got past 4000rpm the light goes off is this meant to happen, any advice guys.

Remove the rubber cover and spray some WD-40 or other lubricant and let it soak. It's quite possible that it is just stuck.

Remove the rubber cap over the flap shaft and mark the shaft (masking tape flag or marking pen).
Crank the engine.
Pull both vacuum lines from the flap valve at the left front of the engine. Make SURE that you know which one goes where!
Check for a good strong vacuum on the input line. Touch the ends of the lines together so that the vacuum is passed to the flap actuator, and see if the flap shaft rotates.
If the shaft doesn't rotate, it is stuck, or the actuator is bad or disconnected.
If the shaft rotates, the problem may be in the solenoid, or the control system.

The flap valve itself moves freely i can push my thumb down hard on the shaft and move the valve open with no feeling of it sticking.

Hey Stuart
You should be able to pull the line off the solinoid that leads TO the flappy and either with some extra hose or stretching your self down in there, you should be able to suck on the hose and either see the flappy shaft move or hear it click. Best thing, get a vac. tester and with the slightest vacuum you should see the shaft move.

IF your gettign a light for a signal then id say the controlling aspect of it is ok. Check your blue vac check valve is ok also.
