OK deal, now say after me!

It's just going to be one of thoses plain old DEVEK 5.4 long rod motor with a little head work

Recieved an e-mail from Marc, the heads have come back and he will be putting the final touches on them this week.

If everything goes right, My S4 might be back sitting in my garage by mid Feb.

Yes, I remember now. You had the extra relay sydrome! Have you got all the bugs worked out?

Haven't bought the cable yet, but I did find a new one in Texas and will be ordering it very soon (300.00usd).

Max;
"It's just going to be one of thoses plain old DEVEK 5.4 long rod motor with a little head work" uh huh, right... Remind me not to give you a rolling start.

You still planning on leaving it in Hempstead for a week or so? Be sure and let me know when it's ready and I'll drive down to McGill's to have a look and meet you.

Mine is running fine now. Had a scary altercation with one of those too- steep apron cuts @ AutoZone designed by brilliant highway engineers who think the world revolves around pickup trucks (in Texas, imagine that?). Trying to get the Mustang to behave now, then I can go to work on 928 gauges.

Cheers,

Max -
couldn't help but over hear your engine specs. When you say "long rod" does this implythat the 5.4 is a stock crank motor with longer rods? I think my logic defies me. Is the engine bored?
This may be personal, but couldyou email me off list at
brenclare@worldnet.att.net and tell me, if you wish, what the approx cost was on JUST the headwork?

I would appreciate it very much.

Thanks,
Brendan Campion

No, if it would have been completed before Jan. 1st. I would have had to leave it up there. But now I should be able to come up(north from south Texas) and stay a night or two before heading back south. Still tenitive at this point, I may stay up north longer.

O-just so you know, it's not Don McGill's Porsche/Audi any more, Advantage Porsche/Audi/Viper/*.* bought them out.

By the way, If you haven't meet Marc Thomas yet this would be a good time. As it sits right now, Marc will be bring the motor himself (driving) to Houston to oversee/help with the install and then Dyno tune before heading back to Ca. The install will take a day in a half by my figures (if everything goes as planned).

It's no secret , the Devek 5.4 is an overbored 5.0 with high quality aftermarket longer rods and Spl pistons. Simply put this increases the C.I. and with longer rods, puts less stress on the bottom end.

I'v done many 355 cheby motors with custom sized pistons (wrist pins relocated) and rods(longer). It seem the motors spin up much quicker (RPM's wise) and with less effort.

I'd rather not say on or off list!

Max-
Thanks for the update on Don McGill, as long as it's been since I was on West Katy I probably would not recognize the loco w/o the name. I would definitely like to cruise down, so let me know- you still have my hotmail address? I've talked to Mark (on the wiring mystery tour)& would like to meet him as well as you.

Brendan-
I don't know what the headwork cost, but I know what cost it- 4 sides of german barbecued Texas Javelina! (inside joke, sorry).

Cheers,
