Is this injector spacer OK to use?

I'm in the middle of an intake R&R, as part of which I'm replacing all the injectors.
I bought a set of Ford Motorsport 19lb, and the injector seal kit so I could replace the o-rings at each end.
Looking at the old and new injectors (old on right) I'm concerned that the spacer on the old injector is thinner than the Ford ones.
Is it OK to just change the o-rings? Have people done this without starting a funeral pyre?
It will be pretty easy to change the o-rings without removing the pintle caps, but I would have to remove the caps to change spacers and want to avoid this in case I damage the injector taking them off or when they are put back there's a risk they'll fall off!

I can't comment on the spacer but I would like to ask a question, what is the bosch number on the injector of the S4? For people who may not know the S3 uses 24 lb injectors like the Euro S2 although they mount differently. Interesting they went to a smaller injector as the motor became more powerful, what injector does the GTS use? Sorry to hijack but I think this is important and want to make sure the S4 can use those injectors as I have 4 sets of them.

I put the Fords in without any issues with the spacer. You do need to swap the O rings. Be careful, the Ford pintel caps like to come off, and are a bugger to get back on. Make sure if one comes off, that you have put it firmly back in place.
Greg, I believe the S4's smaller injectors also came with higher fuel pressure vs. the bigger injector/lower fuel pressure of the earlier motor. Good question on the GTS, I always assumed it used the same as the S4.

Don't worry abuot the spacer just replace the O rings.
Be careful with the pintle caps, sometimes they can crack or break. Finding replacement caps for the 19lb unit is not too bad but I had very littel sucess finding only the caps for the 24lb unit. I did luck out and ended up buying an entire Porsche injector seal kit (8) from a lister at a very, very good price.

87-95 LH 2.3 cars use 19lb injectors at 55psi
Bosch designs injectors to run at 3bar or 43.5psi (spec pressure for the rated flow). Going down to ~30psi at idle on an earlier car probably results in a less than ideal spray pattern. That would cause bad mileage, fouling, and poor emissions.

I'm running a set of bosch ford 24lb injectors in my GT currently. I put them in when I was testing the RMT..and just left them in there after the setup went onto Chuck A's car. The stock brains can handle them fine and currently at the stock fuel pressure I don't notice much of a change in mileage other than the digital dash mileage computer showing the incorrect mileage. Will eventually get a custom set of sharktuned chips to compensate for the 24's though..
