Post Hello! and a little favor/help please....

Hello Gentlemen and Ladies

I just took delivery of my first 928 about a week and a half ago. An '83 automatic in Grand Prix White. I love this car!!! I've driven her about 3 blocks so far. No brake lights - new switches are on the way. Thanks 928 rennlist and archives.

First let me say of course I wanted a stick, but this was just too good of a deal. She came w/ a set of power leather seats fom an '87 that are 9 out of 10. Of course she also came w/ the electrical woes that probably forced the PO to give her up. Also in the deal a set of workshop manuals and the old power seats.

Most of the many electrical glitches are taken care of. It amazes me what people will do...

Now I get around to the help/favor part;
What does the bottom **** on the left side of the pod (square icon?) do? 928intl is sending the owners for the 1983 but I'd love to know sooner.

BIG FAVOR - My '83 has one 8" H-4 that looks teriffic but the lens is out of its twin. I cant afford a new h-4 headlamp so I was wondering if someone had a used unit they would sell?(928 Intrntl was fresh out).

Sorry for the long post. You folks Rock!

BTW supercharged 928's;Genius sheer Genius..

It's the trip odometer reset. Don't push it while your moveing, as I've been told it'll screw things up.

I've never gotten mine to work though. I think it's something electrical.

Welcome to the world of White 83's! And a John as well!
The bottom left **** on my dash if the headlights, but its a UK spec Euro, so maybe different? The trip rest button is Under the dash on mine, so not sure what VU refers to there.
Keep hunting for 8" lights, they are great! Especially with 100W bulbs.

I may be mistaken, but I thought the 8" H-4 was non sealed. If it isn't, you could just replace it with a like-wattage H-4 bulb. Is there a chip in the lens? You also may be able to talk a windshield repair place into fixing it, I believe the chip repair compound can handle the heat.

You got manuals with the car? Score!

Or, do you mean, the -entire- lens is scattered somewhere on some fog line somewhere?

On a US car, the bottem left butten is the trip odometer reset. Above that is the fog lights, above that, at the top is the parking light/headlights.

Under the dash pod there is a butten for the intensive washer system, and a wheel for the dash light dimmer, and a wheel for the intermitent wiper system. The wiper system, and the intensive washer are on the right.

The Euro is all diffrent.

I think that unless you're a luck fellow, you'll only find a used lens at a 928 dismantler, such as 928 International. YMMV.

Welcome to the world of the 928 83 You will appreciate the manuals more and more. I received mine from the PO also, One of the best things that came with the car. Do check your Timing belt and water pump, also make sure your car has the upgrade in cam gears and rollers.

Good luck and have fun.

I have a lens if you need it. It came off my car but instead of re-gluing it I used a complete assy I had. I have no idea what its worth or what to charge. Send a private e-mail if you want to chat.

Are you sure those 8" headlights are H-4 and not H-5?

H-5's are easier to find replacements for.
