Default Steering Wheel Wobble?

I have a 1981 928 and have a steering wheel wobble. I have found this part number on Pelican Parts and was wondering if this is the correct part number:

928-347-739-02-M100

Hard to say... That looks like a bushing, but are you sure it's a bushing that's causing the wobble? Have you tried tightening the nut that holds the wheel? Disconnect the battery for 15-20 min. Remove airbag, tighten nut.

My car came with the same wobble. I replaced the bushing, but also needed to replace the bearing as well. From the diagram on Pelican, its part #OEM-92834779100.

Yup, actually the whole dash is pretty much out including the steering wheel. I can grab the steering shaft and move it up and down <-- that sounded weird. Anyways, I read somewhere that the plastic bushing (race?) on the inner part of bearing wears away in time. I just saw on eBay that this can be used to replace that broken part without replacing bearing. eBay link:

Sorry... I mis-read you having a 91...not an 81. So obviously, there's no airbag.

(need coffee...)

Mine had the same symptoms. I bought the bushing first, but the bearing was in really bad shape when I got in there. Replaced both and no more problem.

Ahh, got it. I will get in there with a flashlight and see if the bearing looks ok. If not, then looks like both parts need replacing. If just the plastic is worn, then the just the bushing. How long did it take you to replace the bearing, I heard it's pretty tough. Thanks guys!

It wasn't bad, but I had trouble finding the bearing. I didn't think to try Pelican and I couldn't find it online at the other usual vendors. I wound up going to a local Porsche Mechanic and having him order it for me. I think he got it from a Porsche dealer - $85!

It will be the bearing that is cooked not the bushing.
