Basically from your excel sheet, an 87-89 ROW w. US 89 ring/pinion you get the same beast?

Don't you hate drag racing!

Such a primitive form of motorsport!

I think with all the SC torque and the wheelspin at launch, I'd be looking for an earlier box with 2.20 LSD. So the force can be with you longer in the middle gears. It's not like there's a shortage of acceleration in 3-4-5, right?

Since the lay shaft in a US pre-89 gearbox is lower (1.57something:1 vs 1.4545:1), the differences 1-4 are minor (~10%) compared to the difference in 5th (~20%).

If you like drag racing the 928 you may want to look into an auto swap. It will last a heck of alot longer and be more consistant too.

I am going to take it apart and see what is needed first, it may not be too bad.

I only drag it when I am bored, there is a strip a few miles from the house. Otherwise, I am at Barber MSP or Talladega GP. I don't plan to drag anymore because of the wear and tear on the car.

Thanks for all the insight, I will keep you informed of the progress.
