Fog Lenses

Quinn,
That's about on the mark for your year/model.
They have them listed for $175.00 new and $100.00 used at 928 International. I've seen them a lot higher! If yours are BROKEN you could get a used set and rouge/chalk/high speed buff them.
If yours are just crazed/opaqued try taking them to a jewlers or plastic sign shop and pay them $50.00 - $80.. to buff them out.
Watch the boards for someone parting a sHARk out.
I think Jim Moorehouse was parting a 91' 2 months ago. jim928ptd.net He also had another aquiantance parting a 928 but I am unsure of the year.
Good Hunting.

keep in mind it's not just the glass, the reflectors and adjustors are attached to the glass. the housing is really just an enclosure, i went to change mine a couple weeks ago. 6 of 8 screws were rusted in and broke off, so i had to replace the entire assy's. ~$600...
you do get new wiring for that price though.
either way, spring the $45 and get a set of Stöngards.

Believe me Stöngards are definitely on my list after I replace my lenses. Also I took your advice John and had my lenses polished with a high-speed buffer. Wow it made a world of difference; you can actually see that there are two sets of lights behind them now. Thanks for the advice; they look good enough now to hold me over till I can afford 3 bills for new lenses.

Did you polish your lenses yourself Quinn, or outsource them? Perhaps you can describe the process.
Mine are looking a bit cataract-like and in need of buffing.

I will do my best to help you out Randy, however I can’t give you exact details because I dropped my car off and went to work while the job was being done. Anyhow, I had a few minor scratches on my marine blu 87 so I took it to a place called polished image located in Salt Lake City. I initially went there for an exterior detail, which included a high-speed buffing. I asked around town and Polished Image was the most recommended. As far as Insane Diego shop around for a shop that guaranties they wont burn or swirl your paint. High-speed is an art form that must be done by a skilled professional. Anyway long story short, I picked up my car and it looked like it had a fresh coat of paint on it. I mean factory new (minus those annoying front rock chips), that’s when I noticed my fog lights. When I brought it in they where yellow and completely clouded. Now they are clear and although not perfect it was worth the 95.00 bucks just to get them looking good again. I hope this was helpful, but if you have more questions I would be happy to call them for you, and ask them what there procedure was, and what type of products they used.

Hey Quinn! Give me a shout at ketchmi@hotmail.com! I live in Bountiful and would like to catch up to one of the few other 928 owners in Utah. I was beginning to think that they didn't exist!

Thanks Quinn.
Yes, I'd like to know what they did - it must be something fairly simple if it could be completed during the time it takes to do a detail.

Randy I contacted Polished Image and they Use a Blue Corral Wax compound and a high speed buffer. So nothing too fancy but the results are great. If I had known there would be such an improvement I would have taken before and after pictures. So if you can find a good detail shop in your area it’s definitely worth a whirl.

OK Quinn, thanks for the follow-up.
I'm thinkin' that the lenses they spruced up were the plastic type, not the glass ones found on the older models.
