There is nothing like the first time at WOT after the SC install. But make sure you do a few shake down runs before that.

Default Need a little clarification on Fmu Hook-up on 86

I am getting ready to hook up my Fmu and want to make sure I am connecting to the correct location. The instructions for the 88 and up is a little different from the 85-86.
I am assuming this is the correct location to the attach the FMU fuel return line.

The 85-86 cars should be the same as the 87 cars.

Hello - here's an excerpt from the Vortech web site supercharger owners manual. Note the comment about "Never use Teflon tape or other sealants on any oil feed line fitting. Do not overtighten fittings." This may have warranty implications.....

Clean the supercharger oil inlet fitting every 3,000 miles. When the vehicle is cold, remove the oil inlet fitting at the supercharger and clean it thoroughly utilizing high pressure air to blow the orifice clean before reinstallation. Do not attempt to remove the screen/filter inside of the oil feed fitting. This oil
inlet fitting is designed with a very small orifice, which provides a mist of oil directly onto the gears.
Never use Teflon tape or other sealants on any oil feed line fitting. Do not overtighten fittings.

Sometimes I use Teflon tape, sometimes I use pipe sealant. I personally prefer the tape.

This does bring up a good point.... The fittings in my kits do not require any sealant at all, usually. In Tampa 928’s case, he had to install an npt threaded fitting into a plate on the oil pan for the oil return line from the sc.

The reason Vortech puts caution to using Teflon tape is because there would be a lot of incidence when the tape was not properly applied and would get into the oil system and possibly clog an orifice.

When using Teflon tape, always start the tape at least one thread back and apply in the opposite direction of threading the fitting into the port. Seems simple but you would not believe how many get it wrong.

I posted this as I had oil leaking problems w/my s/c head unit (Vortech fixed it under warranty) and when I reported it to them they specifically asked if I had used teflon tape as they said this could void warranty, if as Tim points out the tape caused blockage of the oil to the head unit from the oil feed lines (both to and from). I was just passing on as an advisory. I happen to agree with Tim - as long as you do it correctly (as he describes) physics say that there should be no problems.

Default Need intake gaskets now

I need to remove my intake again to bypass the check valve off of the rear oil neck. Tim is not sure if it would hold up under boost DAMM.
Any one have a set of intake gaskets for an 86 sitting on the shelf they can ship now Roger will be a few days away.
