Snow,
Merde! I read the initial post again ... were those the points he raised the car?

Question

Since you guys are fully versed in the allignment of a 928 I wanted to know whether the front tends to go out of alligment easilly. I run 18/225/40 Bridgestones up front with Eibach springs, standard Boge's and dropped to the max with the height adjusters. 1980 model year. My tires are absolutely "cooked" on the insides and a bit on the outter edge so new rubber is imminent up front soon. I do alot of highway and city driving so cornering doesn't seem to be the culprit. TONS of rough roads around here in Century City and LA...

yeah john, oh worldly one, the susp was raised in front as far outboard as possible. on the rear somewhere on the trailing arm. moved wheel tonight and got some relief. only time it will be perfect is when someone else drives it away for good.

i'm sure it took great courage to see the king during that period, i'm awed and impressed. if you want to talk weird, i caught edgar winter in mcalester ok a few years ago. i'm suprised he made it out of town alive. kinda hard to 2-step to frankenstein.

you'll just have to trust that when a musician says arcane it don't mean hound dog. you have a copy coming my early 80's compadre. you'll be impressed.

d,
I'd be lyin!
I would ask Ed, Dr Bob, btdt, or, the Club Racers.
In particular, since you dropped that puppies ride heigth there might be a proportional change in the geometry.
Especially, since you said both fronts were smoked in a similar fashion. Point of interest, as I see in the recent posts someone just picked up a set of drop links.
Could always call the Big Three or the manufacturers of the drop link sets.
HTH.

I'm a little paranoid, about the load/unload procedure. Should I get some monster truck strap-binders and keep every thing loaded that way? They don't offer 928 Tire Balancing 101 here in Midland so anecdotal is fine by me - better than nothing-. Time grows short.

If the springs don't move, then neither do the shocks. Basically, the car gets raised, but from the suspension's point of view, it's still supporting the entire weight of the car. YMMV.

Snow, I ever tell you about...the time I ended up Live, On Stage, One Night Only, with Poppa John Creech and DR.Hook at the D.C. Capitol Center no less, and on a sad note Leon Russell was doing the Club and Lounge Tour in 1989 -Tennessee <img src="graemlins/a_smil17.gif" border="0" alt="[blabla]" /> <img src="graemlins/a_smil17.gif" border="0" alt="[blabla]" /> <img src="graemlins/a_smil17.gif" border="0" alt="[blabla]" />

john, i'm a little concerned about all this beer-stein hoisting and toasting. i'm calling AA immediately. you can probably blame someone else though and claim victim status. i have a petition ready to file against anheuser-busch.

Correct alignment of the 928 front suspension also requires that the rack lock bolt be installed to center the steering rack.

Remove the plastic plug from the front of the rack housing, on the forward side of where the steering shaft goes into the housing. There is a dimple in the rack inside the housing. A bolt with a conical end is screwed intot he threaded hole and snugged into the dimple to center the rack. Then the steering wheel is checked for center, and the wheels are set straight ahead.
