Stuck in 4th!!!
Hi all...... was driving the other day ..and while shifting from forth to 5th.he shifter went loose......car stayed in 4th and apparently a linkage between the shifter and tranny broke....has anyone had experience with dissasembly to expose this connection? any help would be appreciated.....( good thing it didnt get stuck in reverse.....getting it home could have been a real challenge....!)

Get thee to the Greg Nichols site... read all on manual transmissions.
If you aren't leaking fluids it sounds like the actuator rod either fell out of the cup - possible if the locking nut backed off or the cup clamping screw snapped off - or the cup is going thru the crumbling stage.
There are several good tips but read carefully as there is a bearing on the earlier year types that prevent you from getting to the cup/rod socket.
There is also a a good explanation in the Volume 12 of the spring 2002 928 International Catalog check the site under tips it might be there. I could type it in but it is long.
