At your local auto-parts store, you can buy the old-style floor-mounted headlight "dimmer switch" that was used back in the day.......(my day!!! ) on most north american cars. It is a "push-to-make / push-to-break" type of switch and if mounted high on the dead-pedal, makes for a simple installation (it's a flush mount) and easy function.

Plus it makes your left foot feel important again!! <img border="0" alt="[jumper]" title="" src="graemlins/jumper.gif" />

Brian, I remeber some joke about people having accidents cause they got their foot tangled up in the steering wheel trying to dim the lights....My brother just took ownership of my grandfather's '62 Ford pickup. 3-speed on the column and it has the headlight dimmer in the floor.

I have my pkds installed in the door. I removed the factory change holder, and made a small plate out of plexiglass. The wire runs right throught the conduit in the door with the speaker wires. Because of the angle, it is invisible, and no drilling. Plus, i can put the change holder back in at any time with no modifications. 100% back to stock. I used a on/off toggle, but plan to change to a more flush rocker stype switch.

The issue of the KDS on an early model 3-speed automatic needs some clarification.
Some posts in the archives indicate it doesn't work or is unnecessary on these early cars. Some other posts indicate the opposite.
I tried it on mine and could not see, feel, hear or detect any difference while driving at various speeds. I'm assuming I installed the switch properly. Its just a single pole toggle switch right?

Perhaps someone could also explain what the cable does as opposed to the vacuum module.
