For a US spec 4.5 liter? This enigne is about an hour away from me, for free I still wouldn't have taken it (and I own two 4.5 liter cars).

Hi Enzo,

Why wouldn't you have taken it? Just wondering as I may be needing one in the near future.

Keep your eyes and ears open, eventually someone will be GIVING one away! But, I bet his thinking is something like this: if my 4.5 grenades, I will install something with a little more zip, like a 5L hybrid or a euro engine.

No use for a 4.5 liter when 4.7's are not worth very much either.
I would do rings / bearings before dropping a junkyard motor into my car. Rings for a 4.5 run almost $70-$100 per hole, 4.7 motor around $20. Just doesn't make sense to rebuild a 4.5.

Ahh, makes sense now. What would you suggest if your 4.5 died? replace with a 4.7? If so, do some come around here in the forums? Do they drop right in?

Yes - the only difference I can think of is the location of the fuel lines. The return line on the 83-84 is behind the motor where as on my 81 it's on the passenger side next to the feed line.
Easy swap to carry over the rails from the original car.

They show up from time to time. I have two 4.7's in storage and a 5.0 lower end I'll be building up once my 944S is back on the road.
