Engine Shutting Off/Not Turning Over
I am having a problem with the engine in my '85 928 shutting off or not starting. The fuel pump relay, fuel pump and filter have been replaced. It has also been serviced which included plugs and rotor. It is a weekend car so it is not started daily. When I do attempt to start it, some days it will not start or it will start and die. Other days, it starts right up and runs fine. Ignition coil? Any ideas/suggestions will be grateful!

On my 944, it was not the Fuel pump relay that was bad, but the wiring inbetween it and the fuel pump.
On the 944 it is easy to monitor fuel pressure. Is this true on the 928? You need to determine if you have adequite fuel pressure.

I just had a similar problem on my '85. Check your coil wires. One of my coil wires looked like it was cooked.
I replaced that coil wire and the coil for that side just to be safe. It's been working great ever since!!
Good Luck!!
