The last pic could be my valley as it sits today; doing the same project and my knock sensors are also off, crumbled.

The knock sensors literally crumbled, all those years of oils and heat must of done them in.

One of the best R&R's to do. It will feel so much better when running again.

since your in there you might consider replacing the oil fill spout with a complete new unit , not just replacing the O ring, they seem to deform over time and even with a new O ring they still leak,

Adam G. and I just started on one of his 86.5s this past weekend. We're about at the stage you are. It looked REALLY bad in there, but looks much more like the nice clean version you have now.

It will feel really good when all those fossilized rubber lines are replaced with nice new ones. Are you going to paint or PC the intake plenum? And are you doing it yourself or having it done?

I noticed the same; new one on the list of many replacement parts.

It's fun to change your cam chain tensioner pads while in there too ...

Did my cam covers first for the 3rd coast event. Intake R & R is next on my list to solve the oil pooling on top of the engine problem for the '89.

Is there a write-up for removing the cam covers? The right one looks to be PITA.

It does that Luc..........there's many folks out there who have them off for repainting and resealing. I'll be going in to reseal and the cam chain tensioner guides.

I'm on a search and like you the pass. side does look 'tight'.

John, don't do the intake.

It's much more fun to watch you spin out on the track with the oil smoke. Sort of like the Blue Angles, on the ground.

Danny, good luck. CHANGE all the sensors, or you will end up doing it after the fact, like I did.
