acc wire for radio
anyone know which numbered fuse is connected to the acc wire for the radio(not to be confused with the constant power wire). I have checked both #20 and #21 in the reference chart below and they work fine. The car is an 89 928s4

There simply isn't one...
The radio head unit supply in the console is from the ignition switch direct (R terminal) and is just for the radio. It is unfused (not the smartest idea). It assumes the radio itself is fused. You can locate it by looking for the supressor/inductor below the radio on the LHS - easiest access by removing the LHS carpeted console side panel (it looks like a 3 terminal transformer).
Its one of the red wires there - unplug the inductor - test the wire ends for power with the switch in accessory. - use the one that is not powered - its the output of the inductor...
If you just think the fuse is blown - take out the radio - there is probably one on the back.
There is a fuse for the Booster (amplifier) - but its not a switched supply.

Thanks for the info! I just connected the thick red wire in my '84 that gets power with ignition in on-mode to my ACC connection on the radio. It was previously joined with the battery connection from the radio to the constant battery plus wire in the car. The result was that my radio was always draining 75mA with ignition off. It's 2mA now and it keeps the memory! This forum rulez!
