Who has one and what do you think? I'm considering the Club Sport Tip (A014-BLK Speed Black) $119.00
I have a tan interior with a dark green exterior. Does anyone have an opinion on the Club Sport Tip (above) versus the Carbon Shark Tip (A011) $109.00
How about installation? Is this an issue?

Hey Patrick -
I have the Club Sport - I like the feel of the leather insert area on it.
The carbon fiber look matches the pattern of the leather wrap on my steering wheel - otherwise I would have preferred a tan colour/wood shifter to better match my interior's colour. Ideally might be to get a Club Sport with a tan leather insert, instead of the stock black, although the lighter coloured leather would probably show dirt and wear sooner.
Installation takes 5 minutes:

I love mine!! In my chocolate and tan '86 car I got the black and chrome one and it necely matches the other black bits that trim the console and the dash. I like the way it falls to hand...... much better than the original "T".

I have the same exact shifter as Randy. Like he said it is a breeze to install. Even comes with the allen wrench needed to tighten it down along with some concise instructions for instlling it. I spent the extra $20 for a stainless actuator button, which I engraved 928S into. Should I get a chance to take a picture of it with my digital I'll post again.
Now that I've seen how the shift boot looks in Jerrys' car I think I'll buy one too!

I second the "stainless button" idea. I got it but it is an extra cost item. There are 2 variants of the leather boot. The one in the red-car (above) is the shorter one and just replaced the rubber accordian thingy on the stock shifter, while the larger one replaces the whole slide assembly and looks far more 5-speed-ish.

Randy, is that a stainless button on yours?
BTW I just ordered the following steering wheel from AJ USA.

No, not stainless - it's the black anodized aluminum one.
I originally had the 'regular' strength alnico magnetic rod, but it kept jumping out of the shift button hole.
Jager was nice to send me the upgraded 'super' rare earth magnet rod gratis.

Hey guys, I have the chrome/ blk with stainless button. I also highly recommend the leather boot. This replaced the "Star Wars" looking rubber thing with the dirt/crap collecting slide plate. I have the Momo Zebra wood Fighter wheel that I looked all over for and found the best price at Auto Options Salon for $319, average pricing everywhere else was $420. Hope this helps. <img src="graemlins/xyxwave.gif" border="0" alt="[bigbye]" />

This is a GREAT looking wheel that suits the 928 interior very well. In case people think this wheel is only available in black leather, the following may be of interest:
The Porsche Sports Steering Wheel (some call it 930S Wheel) is a factory option for the 928 and here are the part numbers for the most popular 928 factory colors.
Sports Steering Wheel without Airbag for 928, 928S, 928S4, 928GT Porsche Part # 000.043.163.00
Add the following code to the part number above for the color desired:
6XL - Classic Grey
6YL - Magenta
7LD - Burgundy
7JX - Blue
8YR - Black
9YL - Cobalt Blue
There may be other colors available, but these are the ones I have the codes for. Hope this info helps someone out there....
I have heard only good things about the Jager shift *****, but I've never "fondled" one myself.
They sure do look better than the factory T-handle in the pictures I have seen! I guess I can hardly blame an "automatic owner" for trying to disguise his car as a 5 speed....

Hi Gang,
Just to clarify so we are talking apples to apples. The wheel sold by AJ is not the Porsche Factory 928 "Sports Steering Wheel" as listed with part number above.
The AJ version looks the same with the exception that it doesn't have the embossed Porsche crest in the horn pad like the Genuine Porsche version, BUT more importantly the AJ version is not made specifically for a 928 and is mounted with the use of an adapter kit (some 928ers have reported problems with installation and returned them). The Genuine Porsche 928 Sports wheel is made for a 928 only and installs and fits just like any original factory wheel, i.e. no adapters.
While the quality of the wheels are probably the same and I would guess they are made by the same factory, the AJ version is a univeral fit via adapters and the Porsche version is model specific.
I have the Genuine Porsche version in my 85 Euro and love it. The only downside to the Porsche version is that it costs about $40-50 more, but with the Porsche crest embossed in the leather horn pad and the fact it is made specifically for a 928 and fits PERFECTLY makes it worth it to me.

Update: I canceled my order from AJ USA and purchased the genuine Porsche wheel from 928 Specialist (thanks Dave). I like that it is model specific, and that it has the crest embossed on the horn pad. It cost a little more, but I am sure that it is worth it!
I went ahead and ordered the Club Sport Tip (Black w/Nylatron button) fron Jager. The two should make a good pair.
