I'm in search of a space right now, so far I'm trying to stay in the Concord/Walnut Creek area although Vallejo has some large spaces at great prices. I'll let you know the grand opening date as soon as I'm ready to go.

And Tim, yes that's the plan... I need all the green that I can get my hands on

Hey everybody, I need to turn in my count for dinner 30 days before the event. If you are planning on coming up and joining us please send in your check and menu selections ASAP. I will need them in before May 12th. It will not be as easy this year to swap people in at the last moment like I did last year, no more late fees. I also need to inform the Saturday restaurant approximately how many will be in our group.
I hope everyone is having a great spring and getting their cars into touring shape.

Later

Yo, Tim!

I sent in my check for us on 4/17, but have not seen any response/cashing of the check from my account. How would we know if you received our checks?

Richard,
You are in. I only send emails to those who have not paid. I will be cashing the checks next week when I turn in my count for the banquet.
There are no refunds after I turn the commitment in to the Cal Neva.

See you in Tahoe in June.

Argh, this thread's subscriptions are coming through...

I'm really wrestling with this run, the Mrs's hip is really making life crappy for her and the plans for the Denver visit have been all but shelved.

I'm still in Tim and if things look too crazy I'll have a room reservation and dinner available for someone.

Yes Nicole, I'm still good for the lenses.

Hi everybody,
I'm back from the NORC ORR (a bust, didn't get to run) and need to devote some time to Sharks at the Lake. I need a favor from the board members. In checking the room reservations I have found a couple of people on the reservation list that I do not know and they have not sent in their dinner selections. I don't want them to be excluded from the Banquet on Saturday night.
If any of you know Marianne Roe or Isa Sisneros could you please PM me with their screen name or email or tel #'s and I will get in touch with them and straighten this out.
The rooms are almost gone now so please, if you are thinking about coming to Tahoe to attend our event, make your reservations now and send in your banquet checks.
I will post more details in the coming weeks.

It's pearl ivory metallic - we sometimes call it canary yellow, because it looks yellow in the sunlight. If you do a search here for canary yellow, you'll find lots more pictures and some of the story behind this car. No, it turns out it never was at the Frankfurt auto show ever, but there was a similar one there a few months before this one was built.

The official name of the color is Elfenbein Perlglanz or Ivory with a pearl effect , Glasurit paint code is 11H, Nicole was at the Frankfurt auto show in 1987 and saw the show car that was painted this color, so best guess someone else saw it and had one made to this specification for 1988

No, I wasn't at the Frankfurt show - I was at a smaller show called CMT in Stuttgart in January of 1988. That's where Porsche exhibited the same cars they had at the International Auto show (IAA) in Frankfurt, and among them was a pearl ivory/yellow 928 S4 with pearl grey all leather interior. I often dreamed of owning this car, but never saw it again. However, a friend of mine owned a 924S in the same color, that was at the same shows, for a while.

Immediate family concerns outweigh my flexing horsepower, and Tahoe is so beautiful, but the Mrs hip replacement and grand kido #2 look to be happening in the same week...

How do I get myself into this stuff.

BTW, I have a banquet meal available for someone, please make use of it.
PM myself or Tim if you need more info.

So Tim,

Are the pine trees in bloom yet or are they waiting for our arrival?

Well less than two weeks to go.

I knew after last year someone would bring the pollen up. So far no pine pollen has been sighted. The snow has lasted quite long this year so the trees have been quite happy. I don't expect the pollen to a problem this early.

Speaking of snow, Cheryl and I drove the Saturday course two weeks ago and surprise, the road was still closed. At least 4 - 5 ft of snow for 15 miles.
Yesterday we took the trusty GTS out again and voila!! the road is open. I was starting to get concerned but mother nature came to the rescue.

When you arrive at the hotel a wash station will be set up in the valet area. Hoses, buckets, soap, etc will be provided. When you have finished we will be parking the cars in the horseshoe drive way.

The agenda for the event is much like previous years except on a much grander scale. Our Friday meet and greet will be on the patio next to the pool. Hosted hordourves and coctails from 5-8pm. After the reception you can break off and have some dinner or indulge yourself in some Nevada Recreation. (No I mean gambling)

Saturay morning we will be leaving the hotel at 9:30 for parts unknown. We will be stopping for lunch around noon, (we have the entire restaurant) then return to the hotel by 3pm. If you have not been on one of our tours you can not imaging how beautiful the drive is. Our drives are different from other events you may have attended and we look forward to showing our guests what the "Sierras" are about.

Saturday evening we will gather in the Indian Room at the hotel for coctails at 6pm. The Indian Room is unique in that it is built on the state line. Half of you will be eating dinner in California and the other half will dine in Nevada. Dinner will be served at 7pm and the fun begins with your favorites like "Tahoe Fast Facts" , The Raffle , Prizes for the 1st two checks to arrive, and other awards. Also the presentation of the dreaded "Rubber Chicken Award" . I will not win this again this year.

After dinner we will have a contest of skill and dexterity in our Slot Shootout Tournament. This is one of Rich's favorite events and he has promised to redeem himself after last years dismal performance.

On Sunday @ 10am we will leave for our usual drive around Lake Tahoe with a stop in Emerald Bay. Bring your cameras as Emerald Bay is one of the most photographed spot in the world. We will wind up about noon at our home in Alpine Meadows for our traditional "Fathers Day" BBQ.

That's it in a nutshell. Leave early to get here for the Friday festivities and everyone drive carefully on the way up. Remember this is Tahoe and bring appropriate clothing. It should be warm during the day but in the evening it will be in the 30's. A light jacket could come in handy. Tahoe is at 6200 ft elevation so be sure to drink a lot of water while you are up here. It is very easy to get dehydrated because the humidity is so low.

I can't wait!!!!!

We are looking for forward to SATL #4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its hard to believe that this is the 4th time you've hosted such a great event! Time sure flys (especially in a 928!)

It will be nice to actually have a "running" 928 this year (fingers crossed)....

Brian,
Knock on wood I have planned to attend the past couple of years, and at the last minute I've had to back out. I'm hoping the third time will be a charm
