Post Instrument warning lights

Does anyone know why all of the instrument warning lights in a 1981 would stay on constantly, whether the car is running or not?

Thanks
David

I am asuming that the '81 system is at least similar to the one I have in my '85. All the lights are supposed to come on initially and then go out. My guess would be that the switch or relay controlling that function is stuck. The trick is finding it. I have schematics and will see what I can find. You might just send your problem to Devek tech support. They will probably know where the switchor relay is and gladly sell you a replacement!! techsupport@devek.net

Good luck!

Question

Have you checked the Central Warning Unit? You can find it behind the dead pedal.

You could try unplugging it and check, then plug it back in a check again for different results.

YOU MAY HAVE A BAD IGNITION SWITCH, IT’S BEHIND THE KEY TUMBLER SEE IF THE LIGHTS FLICKER OR GO OUT WHEN YOU WIGGLE THE KEY IN THE TUMBLER IF IT DOES YOU HAVE FOUND YOUR PROBLEM IF NOT, IT STILL COULD BE BAD. ACCORDING TO A RELY CHART, 928s FROM 1978 TO 84 DON’T HAVE IGNITION RELAYS.
