Fixed dash lights (dimmer corrosion). Button?
Whew. After a nice 15 minute session laying on my back upside down under the (nice new) steering wheel, I have my dash lighting back in operation!
Instrument lighting had mysteriously vanished a couple weeks ago, and since I don't drive that much at night, I'd waited till after Christmas to tackle the gremlin.
Fuses all checked out, so under the dash I went to interrogate that left side thumbwheel which supposedly adjusts the instrument dimming. Sure enough, bits of corrosion were found, and upon much scrubbing and cleaning, illumination has returned!
Meanwhile, I noticed a small black button adjacent to the right-side thumbwheel (and a place where a similar button could go on the left side next to the freshly cleaned dimmer). Pressing the button did not appear to do anything.
OK 928 trivia buffs - what the heck is that feller, and is there ever another such critter on the left?

> trip odometer reset?
Negatory. It appears to be a small electrical button, subtle and under the dash. Trip odo on an 88 is mechanical - reset by the large pod button with the big '0' on it.

button
I think that is the intensive washer button... to pull the special stuff from the little reservoir at the front of the bonnet.
I've never been able to confirm as my intensive washer reservoir has a bad hose on it.

The button on right side next to wiper delay is for the intensive wash.
My S4 is an 88 but it does have an electrical button for the trip reset on the left next to dimmer. Maybe the ROW and US cars differed in this respect (I'm in UK)?

Yep. You can get the special solution at 928 Specialists. Fixing the pump is pretty easy compared to the main windshield washer pump.

Dimmer thumb wheel
After reading Shawn's write up It made me get of my butt and remove my dimmer for a clean, it was working half-a$$ and most of the time I couldn't read the speedo, lots of crud on the backside of the wiper, what a differance, Its now working like it should, oh if all jobs were that easy....
