Post Need a list of 928 Mechanics

After reading all the pain Tarek went thru, it struck me that had he known of TriTech in Annapolis, this all might have been a non-issue. However, how would he know he doesnt live here.

Which brings me to my suggestion.

In the same vain as the Roadside Emergency Contact list perhaps we should put together a list of all the professional 928 mechanics that WE trust to work on our cars in the event that one of us is faced with the same situation. If you have a Triple A Plus membership, they will tow anywhere you say. I'm sure most of us have AAA. A list of mechanics and locations in the glove box might help to avoid the same thing Tarek just went thru.

Greg - Would it be too much trouble to add professional 928 mechanics and shops to the list?

Just a thought.

There used to be a site with this info, but i seem to remember that the list was kaput last time i checked earlier in the year.

Hi John,

The list, in a small way facilitates that to a certain degree. If someone breaks down and calls another on the list, they may ask about a local mechanic and get referred to one.

It would be no problem to add a page or two of known and trusted 928 mechanics to the road help list. As with the list, some screening would be needed and of course, someone's favorite mechanic may become his worst enemy if even one repair job is botched. We would need a rating system to keep the info current.

I you guys (and gals) want to bat around the idea and come up with how we can include mechanic and shop references to the list, it shall be done.

My thought would be to have people send mechanic and shop info to the list. The names will be posted with a rating like ebay which includes number of satisfied 928 owners who have used that mechanic or shop. ONLY for 928 service. Shop may be great with BMW's, but suck at 928's. No long descriptions of service experience, just thumbs up or thumbs down.

John:

A such list already exists at

<a href="http://www.eatel.net/~dslabat/mech.htm" target="_blank">Dana's Porsche Mechanics List</a>.

Why reinvent the wheel?

Nicole - Thank you for the link.

Not trying to reinvent the wheel. However my thread did feret out someone who knew of such a list. I checked it and it could use updating. This is also the same list the was dead a while ago thought it may have been on someone elses site.

In Maryland for instance there is only one listing, Albiet a good one from what i have heard from others. I know of at least two others.
