I appreciate that advice but our data was never at risk. We have remote backups on that. This was just a computer that had the ups shipping software installed.

As you heard from most Mark, this is likely a heat issue. Heat sink; cooling fan, paste, etc. No matter, tossing the board solved it ... boards are chaep these days. Sorry I didn't see the thread before but I believe you got good advice.

Now days (P4 and better) most CPUs wont burn up or get hot due to thermal paste like they used too. I have taken a P4 2.8 and ran it without the heat sink for experiment reasons, it wont burn up usually just slow down and lock up. I am a OCD overcooler BTW, but motherboards fail ALL the time in my shop.
