Post Leather Seats - Restore or Recover?

Hi all,
my front seats are in need of some attention. Especially the passenger seat, a leaking windshield got the seat wet repedetley and the leather has shrunk and is real hard. None of the seats has any deep cracks or any tears. Is there a product to strech and soften the leather?
Is it worth trying to restore or should I get them recovered?
Does anyone have a good source to get leather work done in South Florida?
Thanks and regards,
Sab. <img src="graemlins/drink.gif" border="0" alt="[cherrsagai]" />

Sab,

Since there are no rips or tears in the leather, I would first try something like Leatherique on them. They have a 2-step process that involves something called "Rejuvinating Oil" which you first apply (and I mean really apply...) to the seat. It seems the best way to go about using it is with your hands and then massage it in to the leather. It works best if you first have your car set in the sun with the windows closed for some time. The leather will be good and hot and will just soak up the oil. Give it a good dose and then let it rest for about 4 hours, maybe more. When you look at it again, it will be very dirty looking. You wipe that off with a terry cloth towel. What happened is that the oil penetrated the leather while the contaminants have risen to the surface. After you wipe that gunk off, you apply their other product, "Pristine Clean" and basically do the same thing as you did with the oil. After this process and a serious wipedown with a clean towel... your seats should look great and feel very soft. It worked for mine and I think there are other reports on the process here in the Rennlist boards. Good luck, but try the cheap way first before you have the seats redone.

What happened to your windshield?? Didn't you have it replaced recently?? I also had my windshield replaced by the same guy. Let me know how it came out.

Thanks for the response guys, I will definetely try the Leatherique product.
Hello Weissach,
yes I got the windshield done by Drew and he did good work. The damage is from before, my windshield must have been leaking for a while before I noticed it. Are you down here in South Florida? there seem to be hardly any 928 owners down here.
