My Vortech was blowing oil within 500 miles. Called Tim and had a brand new one in 2.5 weeks. No problems since except one belt shredded, bought one from Napa and it has been good for 3k so far.

My Vortech is the original one from Tim's car before he ever started offering the kits. Never a drop of oil coming out of the outlet, at least 6,000 miles on my car who knows how many on Tim's with this unit.

I have yet to shred a belt and I'm spinning my supercharger a lot faster than anyone here.

Yeah to the tune of 17 psi.Damn, I like the sound o' dat! Would I be nuts to throw 12 on mine??? Btw Hacker, earlier this evening I handed a new vette his *** on the 4 lane drag in Hanover PA. We were at the light and he was giving me this weird look as he revving his vette. About a 1/8 mile or better ,0-100 ,and at least three car lengths. I love blown sharks!

For what it's worth - I had oil leaks in mine serial #44424.... Went back TWICE!! under warranty. Vortech also said that the oil in the outlet can be caused by leaking of the fitting that exits the supercharger???? (that we use to go to the dip stick tube). They replaced the outlet fitting the second time with a 1/2" tube outlet. I had to fab a hose as it wasn't a screw on fitting.... PITA, but I got it. Now I'm waiting on a replacement radiator hose from the kit 'cause I accidently hit with a wrench when I put the S/C head unit on. Once I get that (help TIM!), I'll check again for oil leaks again. I'm beginning to wonder about Vortech......

Mines comming off this weekend if i have time, i guess i'll have to wait a month or so with shipping it back to the US and then back to me.

I'll be making a bigger oil return line later in the year or maybe i should do it now while the headunit is off.

Good work Kevin, i had a little play with a ferrari 612 today good fun

There was 6 or7 head units that went back to Vortech to have an inner face seal replaced.
Vortech admitted that had a bad batch that got into production.
Kevin, Cliff, Ray, Jim R, Stuart, are 5 that I can think of. Hopefully the problem is resolved.

Tim, the seal that went bad looks like a huge o-ring, prolly could have sourced one locally if I would have thought about it. No one should doubt the quality of the Vortech units. They are the best and most reliable, without a doubt. I couldn't be happier with the Vortech or Tim Murphy's level of service and I am glad they were the choice I went with.

I was reading this post a 3 credit cards was not what I was told for spring tension set-up. I did one business card, 3 center coils were used to measure, both ends were tight. Tim chime in, could this be the belt issue or is mine too tight.

Don't coil bind the spring. Period.

I don't think you could fit 3 credit cards between the coils of a relaxed spring so I don't know where that came from.

I suppose I could make the tensioner fool proof by using a larger diameter spring with the same spring rate and install a sleeve on the inside that would not allow anyone to over tighten the tensioner. I only had one guy over tighten the spring by coil binding it and he actually bent the swing arm on the bracket. I won't mention who
