I currently favor Mark Robinson's mid mount turbo, its really easy to mount and the cheapest thing available, plus many other positive things. BUT he dosent have anyone on the list running one. I know he has shipped a half dozen or so kits, but I am not about to be a test mule for it. So i am still holding off. .

I know you are, as per our discussion about it. But I think your the only one. Mark wont even have one on his car till January sometime. Also I haven't seen ANY dyno numbers on an S4 at all. I would love to see some numbers from your car if and when you get it dyno'ed

to the point we could fully adjust the LH/EZK. I've been in contact with John Speake and Dave Roberts so that we can get it strapped to a dyno soon. DR needs to get his ST software upgraded and then I'm bringing the car out to him. We'planning on doing this by mid February. The car is up and running now, I just have no desire to dyno it at the current boost level.

I can vouch for the Murph kit. I installed it and maintain it myself. Murph is a class act, his product is top quality and my shark goes like a scaulded cat.
It is THE quickest, fastest car I have ever driven. It is a MONSTER! Scares the bejeezuz out of me. I love it.

This can be reduced to a mathematical equation, where you fill in your own variables
Easy road = supercharger = A
Tough Road = turbo = B
Cost = C
Willingness to be a guinea pig = the "X" Factor
Expected Gains from Turbo-ing over SC-ing = Y
(A/X)*(B/C) = Y
If Y is greater than ((A/X)*(B/C)), go with a turbo.
This makes no sense but it was worth a shot!
I think someone with a mathematical background, i.e. not a lawyer, could figure this out! We definitely need some kind of help to make this tough call.
I'm obviously on the fence. Go with the safety-in-numbers value and ease of use/install of an SC versus the exponential (but as-of-yet undelivered to the masses) and tempermental power of turbocharging?! Sensibility says SC; the quest for raw power says turbo. My end result: I'm going to hold off for another 6 months and see what my options are at that point. I have a lot of experience with turbos, and I'm willing to be a guinea pig. Finances and time are my current enemies, though, to pursuing a turbo project.

928 Motorsports did (and may still) sell Murf kits. Murf is currently the only complete kit shipping and has the most users. DR is still working out some kinks and design upgrades on the 928 Specialists kits. John Kuhn is working out pricing and fine tuning for his kits.

I dont follow the pelican parts message board, but has price been mentioned at all for the Kuhn turbo kit?
I thought I heard it was in the $10,000 range. But I have no idea. Doesnt his kit require cutting holes in multiple spots to plumb all that tubing and stuff.

I don't follow Pelican either, but the last I saw John hadn't finalized pricing and was still tuning. I know his target last time I talked to him (SITM) was $8-10k. He does require cutting holes for the intercooler piping. A lot of SC owners seem to not have a problem cutting intake or intercooler water hose holes, and I think Carl's new kit requires cutting holes. The holes thing would be a big downside for me if I had a nice S4/GT, but I'd ask John to customize the kit for a liquid intercooler if I was going to buy one. Then again, my ideas on turbocharging a 928 are a bit more extreme than John's so I'm not his ideal customer.

My understanding was that 928 Motorsports sold the Murf kits for the S4 and later years. It looks like they have their own kit for the earlier model years... http://www.928motorsports.com/superchargers.html
