Post Touch-up paint for aftermarket rims "Techno" style

My car has the "Techno" style aftermarket rims - unfortunately with a few scratches and chips by now. Is touchup paint available for those, or do I have to have the whole rim repainted?

Some time ago a tire dealer scratched the paint all around the rim, and repainting it was about $100.

Cool

-I've got the same problem, Nicole. I went to an auto parts store recently and asked the kid working there if he knew of any that was commercially available...he said it was a good idea but that he didn't think it exists.

Right after I bought my car, I was "gung ho" to fit some phone dials. I bought some used ones, and had them refinished by a place here in town- they sandblasted them, straightened them, balanced them and then painted them up for $150 each.

Then I decided that I wanted 17 inch 993 wheels...

Well, I managed to sell the phone dials at a small loss, but that's life. In the meantime, I managed to make some nice marks on two of my 993's by allowing them to fall over when I had them pulled off....

I'll contact the place in Orlando [they are called Turbax: 407-648-8118] and ask them if they have any touch up paint. These places exist in most towns, so this might be a good route to follow.

Normy!

If you find a good product let me know too, one my wheels came with a little nick that could use patching.

Last week I refinished my phone dial wheels using Griots Wheel Restoration Kit from Griots Garage. $69 gets you 1 bottle wheel cleaner, 1 can primer, 2 cans paint, and 2 cans clear coat. Removed the tires, cleaned the wheels with cleaner and scrub brush, then applied a couple coats of zinc primer. After that, several light coats of the paint made the wheels look like new! I'm not kidding, this stuff looks great! The catalog describes the paint as being close to original finish for most euro wheels like BMW, Mercedes, etc. Keep in mind that the 23 year old phone dials were probably a 2 out of 10 before, now look more like a 8 or 9 out of 10. It's too soon to judge how well the finish will hold up, but I can't complain. However, if your wheels only need a touch up, there may be better alternatives. This kit is good if you plan on painting the entire wheel.
Good luck....
Richard
