Post Supercharger Systems- complete

Without going into a ton of detail, I have decided to offer a complete supercharger system of what I have done with my car, for those that would be interested. My intension is to provide everything that would be required to make a complete installation without spending hours and hours trying to figure it all out. Not to mention the multiple visits to the hardware store, finding all the right parts that will fit, or calling me for help finding the parts. I’m in the process of ordering enough components to complete a minimum of 5 sets. Initially, the kits will only be for the S4 and later cars. They will include the intercooler and keep all emissions in tact. The cost is yet to be determined but my goal would be not to exceed $8k. I have made an offer to a member on this board asking him to allow me to do an installation on his car. By doing this I can confirm that I would be providing everything that is necessary in the kit for a complete installation. Other things that would be gained by doing this would be documenting an accurate time on how long installation should take, taking pictures for a manual, and testimony from someone you all know regarding his opinions of the quality of the components, system design, and installation. I’m anticipating he can get the car to me on a Saturday morning and then drive it home in the afternoon with 4xx+ rwhp. I have a lot of work to do but I would like to pull this off within the next month for sure. I will let everyone know when and if this is going to take place so you can all follow along. This should be fun! The member I made the installation offer to has my respect for his knowledge of supercharger system theory and I feel he would be a true asset for us all to have his car supercharged. I asked him to keep this under his hat until I knew this is what I was willing to do and now that I have made this decision public, that individual is welcome to raise his hand. If he would rather not, that is ok too.
Another quick note; I would like to thank “Z” for answering a lot of the questions others have asked about the setup on my car as I’m very busy. I try to follow the threads the best I can but by the time I find the questions I see that “Z” has already answered them, and in most cases does a better job than I would. I’m very happy that you have stayed involved as I’ve stepped through this process, and I always appreciate your input. Thank you! And no, “Z” is not the installation prospect, for now ; )

On this application, how do you get around the high compression of the 928. Should the compression on a blown engine be much lower?

For the people who don't want to make the stuff themselves, and just want something that they can put on in a weekend, then you are right on, and the price should not be an issue within this 4 digit number, and that four digit number. I am serious here. How much time and effort have you put in with a kit that you felt the need to change to get higher boost? Think about all that time and effort. My time in my agency is worth a hell of alot more than that, so if I was that type of person, I would buy the kit.

I look forward to the info and discourse on this, and I am surposed that its not Z.

This sounds like a great idea.

Finally, one of US as well as someone WHO HAS WORKED OUT THE BUGS IN THE SYSTEM!

Is this a price that includes an intercooler??

I have most of the parts already fabricated for the installation. I'll be working on a street application first and then one for race applications which primarily will consist of higher cooling capacity and engine monitoring equipment. This is very premature so don't get too excited yet but these are my intentions.

But the short answer is no, not if you don't get stupid with too much boost.

Well, I am happy to say that I'm the lucky person who's going to get their car supercharged by Tim, and as he's already said, it should be fun!

As for the price, it is really reasonable, especially if you check on the favorite car we like to argue about, the Z06, and find out that a mass produced kit for it by Vortech costs $7.5k.

If one considers that despite the fact our 928 is comparitively a low volume car, and are able to get a fully functional and debugged supercharger kit for roughly the same price, is phenomenal to say the least.

To me, an intercooler is money well spent if you have read any of my posts on supercharging. Not only will the car be inherently more reliable, but it will also make more horsepower, and reliably at that, too.

I am really excited about the whole proposition not just because I'm getting my car supercharged, but because according to everything I've read and understand regarding supercharging, Tim is on the straight and narrow track with absolutely no compromising that I can see.

Man, I can't wait! <img border="0" alt="[jumper]" title="" src="graemlins/jumper.gif" />

I'll be willing to help out with engine management on the L-jet cars. Some more testing to be done, then I'll know for sure.

I've been answering some of the questions because I know that you're busy, and don't get onto the board as often as you might like to. Not having to answer those questions gives you more time towards working on the supercharger project anyway, right?

And no, “Z” is not the installation prospect, for now.
If I would have had the money to put towards that, I would have had one a long time ago already.

Way to go Tim!

I am most impressed by your openness and willingness to support the 928 Community - and all in a non-selfish manner. My hat's off to you Sir! <img border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" title="" src="graemlins/bigok.gif" />
