Default Risky Business 928 on eBay

Perhaps some of you may have already seen it, but in case you hadn't, the Risky Business 928 which has been talked about considerably here on Rennlist is now being offered up for auction on eBay (item no. 190185222412) at no reserve. This should be fun to watch.

BTW, I have no affiliation with the owner or the listing. I just thought it was worthy of mentioning.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Christmas!

No sun roof, so more than likely that is the 928 that went into the water. The 928 in the driving scenes and interior shots had a sunroof.

According to what I had read previously, the one that went down under was nothing but a shell, not a "whole" car.

And even if it was the car that was submerged, why would you want it?

Russ,

Who said I wanted it? Actually, if it was stripped, submerged, dried and reassembled it would probably be OK. Guess it depends on the degree of stripping.

No it is not the car that went into the water. The primary driver car was an auto, this car is the primary 5 spd driver.

Car interior just after Lana takes her purse out (and knocks the car out of gear).

here it is straight from the emails I exchanged with Lewis when I found his site a long while ago....

The auto was originally platin metallic, the dump car and stick driver were painted to match.

Jon Avnet told me that he taught Tom Cruise how to drive a stick shift in the car that I found.

Only 2 vin numbers were found in the files. these were for the auto and stick shift. The auto was tracked and found to have left the country in 84. The stick shift was found in California.

One could argue that this is the most famous 928 in the world.....sure the holbert car or pearlglanz is famous to those of us in the 928 world.....but this 928, the one in scarface and weird science...built the legend that is the 928!!

Speaking of that does anyone know what happened to the scarface 928??

Sad. After all the petitions, all the work on the documentary, countless post's on the subject, and all the heart and soul put into finding the car, it ends up on ebay. Tragic!

I especially like the picture of the exaust pipes. Seems out of place with all the other pictures. Has anyone else considered this to be a complete scam?

Why would it be a scam? If you actually READ the description, he included the picture of the exhaust pipes because the car had an ANSA rear muffler (when he bought it and in the earlier pictures) and he replaced it with a stock muffler.

It's not really tragic, from what I know Lewis (like myself and many of you) had the impression that only 1 car was used. When he couldn't find the primary driver car (the auto) he was really disappointed and just by chance he found this car. He did put up a lot of money on his own to film the documentary and find the car, buy it etc. Since the documentary didn't get into sundance, I guess he is looking to recoup some of the money he put into the film.
I know if I had the cash I would buy this car in a heartbeat since this is the car that started it for me.....

The car/Ebay sale are not a scam, i personally know Lewis and he is just trying to recoup some of his cash that he paid to document the search/restore and movie.
The car has been on display in Dever for the last year at a premier auto musem. Lewis likes the car but he is finished with his project, so a person that has a bigger desire to drive this car has to be found. This is the real deal, money talks

Now I have to go rent the movie. The car that backed out of the garage was an auto. The reverse lights went on when it was started. Now I see the picture of the interior it is s different color than the ingterior in the other scenes. The other scenes show a car with a cork interior not a tan and brown.

The car that went in the lake had not motor. The fenders were very high on the wheels. It also had a broken lens and some dents on the door. It was definetly a beater or salvage car.

The question I have is why was the color changed? There were many gold cars around at that time.
