maybe the car is not the one into the water, I can't say.

didn't infer that you personally wanted it, it's just a rhetorical question/statement, nothing to be offended by......

I disagree. Look at the vid. And the clunking of the manual trans or clutch chatter when it dies wouldn't be happen w/ an auto.

I bet this last RB928 is the one used the parking lot reverse doughnuts and reving next to the girls. Can hear it clunk going into 1st.

I remember reading somewhere that the car stalling was an accident, and not a planned.

And yes, the car for sale is the same car that stalls in that scene.....

I think most of the questions in this thread are answered in the Excellence magazine article.
From:http://www.928registry.org/Risky-Bus...Excellence.htm

"Johnsen's only other option was to find car number two -the 1979 five-speed "fill car," #9289201213. The four other RB928s may be forever lost, because the '81 "primary driver" and '79 "fill car" are the only 928s for which there are VIN numbers in the production records."

Russ,

Wasn't offended. You didn't see my smiley? Actually, the boss wouldn't let me get another. She keeps hinting that I should trade mine in for a newer Porsche.

FWIW, I'm surprised nobody mentioned that the interior pic in post #7 clearly shows a sunroof switch in the center console.

My son, right after being surprised by what he thought would be a boring trip to a car museum in Denver last summer during a drive from Houston to Yellowstone. The RB 928 is, or was, nicely displayed, right near the entrance and complete with Ray Ban sunglasses on the console.

You can see that the Ebay picture was taken in the same spot in the museum with the chains removed.

and that proves what?? in post #8 I clearly stated that the car knocked out of gear by Lana (shown in Porken's pic) was a different car according to the production files.

The car/Ebay sale are not a scam, i personally know Lewis and he is just trying to recoup some of his cash that he paid to document the search/restore and movie.
The car has been on display in Dever for the last year at a premier auto musem. Lewis likes the car but he is finished with his project, so a person that has a bigger desire to drive this car has to be found. This is the real deal, money talks
I stand humbly corrected. I didn't realize it was him selling it.

Yeah, Dennis, I have the same problem as most of us do......

sure would like to have another, but can't get past the better half....even after buying her a new Caddy CTS.

She's still irritated that I've got this hybrid project in the garage in boxes, not moving very fast towards completion.
