You sure thats the problem and not a bad water pump that is leaking??? That's the ony reason you would have steam coming out of the breather holes.

I could see the leak. it is leaking at the engine, the passenger side hose. thus right down over the covers and front of the engine

New hose? Had a similar problem. The newer better hoses have a smaller wall thickness. Clamp bottoms out before the hose is tight. Ditto the radiator end.

Bob, I think its a matter of where you buy the hoses , at the shop we had a few different sets both thick and thin wall.
I went with the thick wall hoses on my car, they seem to be a bit more expensive but they also seem like they could have come right off a King Tiger Tank......... The thin ones seemed like they could split at any moment, i believe the hose that comes from the dealer is the thick version,
The thicker hose will also possibly cause interference with the back sides of the fans or the A/C lines if they are not routed correctly, The thinner hoses will have a bit more clearance, i guess its what you can find/want to buy.
As far as leak is concerned check the clamped area carefully, if the hose was bent sideways with the clamp on it it is very pssible to create a pinhole where the internal thread s have broken due to over/bending/stressing the hose
