Default 928 crash at Zolder

I can't believe this guy can't pass the Ford. He lost it at one of the turn. Both feet in? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpsaxK5HQME

I saw this before. He clearly had a car that was not happy in the sweepers due to either:
too loose or broken front swaybar, too stiff of rear suspension, too small or too much pressure of rear tires, pinned rear end, or an open diff. this car looked like it was handling like Dennis' car in one of his videos i saw. It was a handful, and required total attention. You could see how unhappy the car was at the same turn the previous lap. 928s should be one of the best handling cars in those types of turns. (like turn 10 at sears point or the kink at road america) . Following the much quicker, but not as fast ford didnt help things. That thing looked incredibly light and was much more turney. His only chance was deep braking on the straight .
I think i recall him trying to fix the damage. I wonder if he did this or if he had to transfer his stuff to another chassis.

tough to watch!

The suspension was driving the car, not the driver.

I would have just drank another beer and passed that Ford like he was standing still.

Isn't there a bronto928 (or something like that) on Rennlist? I would think he'd know that "Just 230hp for a Euro model. They got substantially faster as the years went on..." is BS.

That sucks a big one.

The Escort appeared to be all over the place, like he was driving down a dirt road or something, and the brakes were obviously not as good, but he didn't manage to crash; not even close.

Maybe the 928 was just dragging too much weight around.....

Looks like the a$$ end was in the drivers seat .... not the driver: a real handful ...
The Ford was a real cut & dive artist - novel technique to watch, a PITA to follow.

he looked like he was doing a good job. I can show you hours of tape of e30 drivers doing the same thing. Its frustrating to be behind, especially when you dont have the power advantage.

Yeah, that' s me. By the 3 spoke steering wheel it's clearly a '78 or '79. My understanding is that the US model had 220 hp and the ROW had 230hp. Am I mistaken?

with a set of headers and exhaust, its common to see 220rwhp from the euro 4.5 or even US 4.5.

That little crapbox was not trying to drive the course- he hit no apexes- he was basically just c*ck- blocking the 928. It is hard to believe he couldn't be passed on the straight, though.

Actually, he wasnt doing too bad. thats how you have to drive a little "crapbox" (its different than a big crapbox)
watch it again. this guy is pretty good and he hits most all of the apexes!
now, they are late apexes, but still apexes none the less!

OK, I looked it up and the ROW 78-79's had 240hp. I updated my note on YouTube. But the suspension explanation makes a lot more sense.
