Default WTB: Interior Leather Sample - 3171 Red

Hi,

Does anyone have a leather interior sample I can buy or borrow. I'd like to get a good idea of what the actual color is before I place an order for my shark. The color code I'm looking for is on GAHH: 3171 Red

it would be nice to have a 1 sq foot or larger piece.

Please PM me with price and size.

Thx -T

Your best bet would be to go to a decent upholstery shop and ask them if they have a GAHH sample book. Unfortunately leather isn't usually sold in feet or yards so it will be tough to get a hold of a sample in the size you're talking about.

There is an upholstery shop specialized on Porsche in San Jose or Santa Clara. I think they are called Premier something, and are off of Stevens Creek Blvd.

Let me see, if I can find the info on them. But that's the place where you might be able to see the actual leather sample. I know they have the book... I was there a few years ago.

Thanks J. I figured I could do a little homework and find someone ith one, but I'd really like to find a nice big swath of it, so I can see if my eyes and brain can handle all that red on a regular basis. I'd actually prefer a long irregular piece of scrap, so I can see what it would 'feel' like on the dash, bolsters, etc.

Thanks Nicole. Since I basically live on Steven's Creek, I'd love to find more about this shop. Any more info would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, here are a couple of photo-chopped pics of what I'd like to do with my interior. Not sure if I'll be able to find the black & white pascha, but I'll try my damndest.

Doh! Damn that yellow phone number in 30 pt font in the top left corner of the GAHH site!

I just called them and a 4" x 6" swatch is on it's way. Still not enough red leather to know if I'll start thinking of murder after driving for two hours, but good enough for starters. --thx rixter

I would recommend that you cover the the dash, console, and A pillars in Black, it will be a lot easier on the eyes, of course then you might consider doing the doors as well in black

I agree with Merlin, the red and black is a great combo
the only thing I don't like about red interiors is the way they fade, age and neglect show real bad compared to many other colors
here's a couple pics

Yeah, it's a tough call here, but I like the idea of red overhead, cuz it's something you don't see very often (but maybe there's a good reason for that).

I didn't realize that about red wearing poorly. hmmm... Thanks for the pics. I'm hoping for a little darker/warmer red --do you know what color this is in these pics? lipstick? lobster?

Hey, thanks Paul. Those sport seats are sweet --looks like everything's in pretty good condition, too.

...or wear polarized sunglasses on bright days. Works like a charm, and you can have your car the way you really want it.

In the 80ies I had a car with a tan dash, and my Dad used to joke that driving it was like driving through the Sahara desert... I never had a problem, as I was always wearing my polarized sunglassess - except when it was too dark. And then there were no reflections anyway.
