Default interesting 928 turbo in Atlanta

My wife and I were out driving the shark today running some errands, and stopped in a local Schlotsky's for lunch. So I hear over my shoulder, you wouldn't be interested in another 928, would you? Turns out is a local guy who bought an '82 928S a year or so ago with the idea of turning it into a track car. Apparently it's a very early turbo conversion, said it had been on the car since 1984 or so.

He's moving into a new house, getting married and needs the room for other projects, so he said he would be putting it up for sale soon. If anyone is interested (and I don't jump on it), I'm going to get some more information from him. Nice guy.

That was my thought. I'm going to get more information on it as soon as possible...who knows I might end up with two 928s.

Block is fine, the pistons were the problem.

Was it Platinum Metallic? If so it could be mine. I sold it a little over a year ago to a guy in Georgia. Right out of the rennlist classifieds. Lots of work done to it. I had the original single turbo system reconditioned with a new t3-t4 hybrid, Tail waste gate, FMU, exhaust, breaks the works. It was originally installed @ 1984 by BAE automotive out of Torance Ca. .5 bar @ 90 hp. receipts and manual say it was a 16,000 $ project in 84. I know i spent a crap load of money on TB, Clutch, Head gaskets, Turbo R&R, bla... bla.. bla.. over the 4 years i owned it. The best things is the car came with a full maint history(Total @ 50K over 22 yrs) right down to the oil changes. When i sold last year she had @ 70k on the odo. If the new owner didnt beat the *hit out of her it would be a good buy. an 8 out of 10 with some cool not so common upgrades. You will know its the one because it also has 3 piece Gotti(etoile) wheels and some fat *** tires. correct offset, period correct and expensive at the time. The ones in my avatar.

You might be able to search my old posts and see lots of pictures i took during the R&R process. I would be curious what he was asking for it. not to buy but just to know.

Default That's mine

Hi Mark, and thanks for posting this here.

This is my car now and did belong to SilverSFR. (very nice guy by the way)

I am planning on selling it soon. I was planning on making a nice weekend cruiser or track car out of it, but I bought a company, got engaged (wedding next month), and am moving into a house with no room for my toys...for the short term...I hope.

I have put approx. 250 miles on it since I bought it from SilverSFR. It had an oil leak when I bought it and it still does. I have a new oil pan gasket for it but have never put it on. It has been started and run about every couple of months, but has to be jumped off. I have never even titled it. (I wasn't street legal in GA, due to the exhaust, until Jan. 07)

I am not looking to make money on this car. I am planning on selling it for about the same I paid. (due to the lack of space and it needing the oil leak fixed...and it's one less thing for me to mess with.) Somewhere around 6-7K.

I will post more info on here when I get the time. I am planning on listing it on Ebay as soon as I get the time to do so. Anyone that is local that would like to see it in person can contact me at David.Smith@abrasivesandequipment.com or through this website.

Thanks again Mark.
SilverSFR, you can add any info you would like due to you knowing more about the car than I do. Good to see you are still around.

David

Last time I actually drove the car it was running fine. It is a little slow to warm up, but once warm idles and drives great. For about a year, it has been sitting in my garage collecting dust. I start it every once in a while just to keep everything lubed up. The battery has died though and it has to be jumped off.

As far as I know, it has never been on a dyno. I believe the specs on the turbo system call for a ~90hp improvement. I could be wrong though.

Hopefully I can get some info and new photos up once the holidays are over. I may list it in the classifieds here (since I did buy it from here.) before I list it on Ebay. Like I said, if anyone happens to be in the metro Atlanta area and wanted to look at it, just let me know.

I've driven it and it is as quick, steat'o'pants, as my '87 S4 5 speed.

Ok...I am getting ready to put this car up for sale locally and on ebay. If anyone is interested please let me know. I need to get rid of it in the next month or so as I am storing it at a rental house and I have a new tenant moving in soon.

Anyone is welcome to come take a look at it if they would like. The car is located in Dallas,GA. (just outside of Marietta,GA.) Nothing has changed on the car since I have bought it. (Except I have two sets of wheels now.)

Please PM me if you are interested and I will answer any questions I can or I will give you my phone number so we can discuss it. I am looking to sell for $5000. I payed more when I purchased it.
