So I ordered my rebuilt axle on Monday morning-ish.....it shows up via UPS on Wednesday!!!! Damm thats quick service!!!! If only it was that quick to install it!!
I'd say that was normal... although it seems to always take 4 days for their stuff to get to me. Now if they had installed it for you on Wednesday, then I'd say they rock!

The install "party" is Saturday at my house......your more than welcome to come!! Hmm if you leave now, you should make it in plenty of time!!!
I've been getting all the parts from them I'd rather not have to order "next day" via UPS. I called Tom one afternoon around 3:30 last week and he still made UPS and my wrench had it the next day. As long as you need the part, they're the place to go...
Standard UPS ground is 2 days to Northern Ca , No. Nev, Ut ; 3 days Wy, Or , Wa, Co , Ok ,NM most of TX and 4 days to most of the mid west / East including Fl. We do ship the vast majority of our orders the same day and being Pacific time Zone we are still shipping when many of our customers are eating dinner

I will be in Orange County next week week and was thinking about making a pilgrimage to 928 International.
I thought about asking the folks here in CO if I could pick up anything for them, but it's not much savings. No sales tax when ordered by phone or Internet.
I live about 180 miles away from 928Intl and my parts always arrive the next day (for standard UPS shipping) - awesome! It's so convenient, I end up making daily phone calls to order parts because I forgot something or wasn't sure if I needed something - I'm sure it's irritating as hell, but they never complain. It's a class act to put up with a newbie like me...count me in on the lovefest.
I picked up a torque tube today, and 30 minutes before arriving, I tortured Tom with a whopping $10 of extra parts by phone. They were ready, sealed in a little bag, along with the revised receipt, all ready to go when I got there. Tom even slimed himself helping put the TT into my car. Thumbs up all around!

I have them on my cell phone list, I have called them from under the car a couple of times. I actually manage an auto parts store, so I can recognize serious quality when I deal with them.

Ok so I hafta ask, why is it tough to install? I used to swap axels in the 914 in a few minutes with it on the ground (a little more room there), and I worked with a mechanic on my 911 who had one out in 5 minutes, greased and installed the new one in about 5 more. Apply brake, remove bolts, wipe grease from eyes, drop axel, grease new one, install...then spend several hours getting that black snot off your hands.

Since I haven't actually done this job before, I really don't know what to expect...but with the pristine rebuilt axle in hand and some extra "help" on the way I am hoping we can get the whole project done in just a couple hours or so....that way I can bribe the help with "lunch & beverages"
