I watched a good protion (~3hrs) and didn't see any Porsches on there.
From what I heard, a lot times, no reserve actions that don't go too high, end up being bought by the owner. OR that sometimes the "other" bidder is actually the owner (shill bidding) and this is not illegal at B-J (it is on e-bay). if the owner ends up buying their car, all their losses are the commision fees (sometimes only a fractio on wha tit woudl be if the car sold to the actuall bidder). This usually happens if a very expensive car only get low bids. Also have heard bogus bids being anounced as real ones, just to drive up the price. I heard this last year, maybe they cleaned up their act by now.

It's after the thing - on the stage right now!!!

We should make a list of all the wrong data these NASCAR boys will say about it.

89 GT went for $22k but the GTS was the better buy IMHO.

I think they were pretty fair in their commentary on it. The even said that 22K was a pretty good deal for the car.

I agree, the car was presented well, especially when you consider the regular type of cars that cross the stage.

Nice to see a shark in prime time.

I'm seriously bummed now, I really should have agressively marketed my car to get that GT!

I hoped it was you who bought it. Who knows, you may see it for sale again soon if a reseller bought the car? I too think they were pretty fair in their comments about the car even if they do not know which wheels were on the car or what color the brake calipers should be. They knew about the rolled fenders and commented on how nice the paint was saying it looked better than new! They also said the engine looked like it had fresh paint and hoses. Overall, nice job probably would have been really tainted if my buddy Keith Martin would still be doing the comentary?

I didn't but, if history is any indication of the future we will have many opportunities over the next year to catch it on Speed again.

Keep in mind you would have paid at least $24,750 for the car since the next bid amount was $22,500 + 10% buyers fee. This is assuming the other bidder stopped there.

Sad to say I doubt the 928 will be used for the shorter rebroadcasts of this years auction.

I agree. Even during the commercials you will find cars like Jaguar V12 E types and the Porsches leaving the block as they come back from their break only to highlight some ugly resto mod or Ferrari 308 Pasta maker (WTF). I also noticed that many of these cars are bringing much less than previous years. Many of these hot rods are barely bringing what they cost to build as were a few years back they might have seen double or triple their build cost.

Looks like BJ auctions had its 15 minutes of fame and is slowly loosing its edge.

That and disposable 'bubble' income is less plentiful right now.

I agree but those that have the money are not impacted by the current economy at these dollar levels. I think people got caught up in all the hype and are finally coming back down to reality about many of these cars.

I was supposed to be out there with a friend this week but business is keeping me tied to the desk. I would never buy from an auction like this myself, too many unknowns and I would prefer to work one on one with the seller. Unless it is an ultra rare, can only buy it here, why people spend premiums of 10% to an auction house is beyond me.

Did they even televise Tuesday last year?

IMO more people are seeing through a fancy paint job and a Chebby 350, holding out for the real, rare and unique hot rods. Or maybe the hot rod craze has passed and BJ needs to move onto something else for the big draw.

The Corvette's that I saw went through at normal (one inflated) prices. I only mention them because they are really the only collector type car I'm somewhat familiure with when it comes to value.

I don't think we've seen the last of $500,000+ MoPar's. I'm not sure there will be a mega $$$ car like the Shelby was last year. I do predict the real Shelby cars will go through the roof accross the board on Saturday.

Old Carroll turned down $23 million (yes, twenty three million) for the first Cobra. I'm sure old Monkey Boy Craig Jackson (he looks like an ape) is chomping at the bit to sell that car once Shelby kicks the bucket.
