SOCAL928: Big Hwy. 58 Drive this Sunday, 4/7/02
Join us if you can this Sunday, April 7th, for the SOCAL928 "Highway 58 Ramble." This will be a full day of technical driving on the best twisty roads in the entire state of California.
We are meeting from 9:00-9:30 in Sylmar, CA, then heading up north to Buttonwillow, west across Highway 58 and lunching at the Hofbrau in Atascadero. We will then head back across 58 eastbound, then down south through the Los Padres forest, emerging around Frazier Park, good and tired...and happy. We will have new appreciation for the smells of hot rubber and smokin' brakes.
200 miles of scenic twisties - it should be a great day. And if you want to take it at a slower pace, there's plenty of beautiful scenery along the way for your Significant Other to appreciate. Otherwise, secure all loose items in the car (including your SO, if applicable)!
Check out the Information Packet (.PDF format)

Those of you from MidCal or NorCal who may want to join us along the route, feel free. Just check the times in the info. packet as the schedule should be fairly reliable. One option for the NorCal folks might be an early morning blast east across 46 to meet up with us down at Buttonwillow (10:45-11:00 a.m.) and take 58 back west, have lunch with us, then head north and home.
Keep in mind, Daylight Savings Time will be in effect on the 7th. Be sure to reset your clocks. Hope to see you there!

This will be a big one guys. More driving than some can stand I am sure. The hardcore drivers always pull through though.

Hey Brendan!
Folks only need to be hardcore about having fun to make this one. It is anything but a big freeway grind - all twists, turns, whoop-de-dos and great scenery. And I applaud the San Diego folks who are making the extra effort to come up. That is truly a haul and they do have some freeway grinding to do.
For the L.A. folks, it's less than 90 minutes of freeway driving before the fun begins, after which, the fun will last for hours. And after the fun's over, it's a short drive back to the starting point...UNLESS we head over to check in on the SOCAL928 Motor Mount Day people in Fillmore! I am up for that, if others aren't totally wasted by the end of the day.
