Shipping A 928 Advice.
sorry if this is the wrong forum for this question BUT...
can anyone offer any advice on companies that will bring my 928 from Sias in Cleveland, Tenn to me in Nederland, Texas? it is looking like work issues and holiday schedule is kinking our plans and i'd like to find someone to bring it to me if possible. any advice will be greatly appreciated.
it's about 750 miles or so.

I just used DeMoise to transport my 928 from Los Angeles to Atlanta and was very happy with their service and pricing. They picked up the car four days after the arrangements were made and delivered the car to me in Atlanta just five days after that - and this was over Thanksgiving. Excellent service and both the driver and dispatcher stayed in constant contact with me for the trip. My 928 arrived in perfect condition, no worries whatsoever. I'd highly recommend them.

I had a similar experience as Mark did but with Intercity. Only negative is that they will move the cars around ocassionally and on more than one ocasion I've heard people complain of dead battery by the time the car arrives to you. I had this problem as well, otherwise they were great.
I wouldn't recommend DAS, I and many others have had bad experiences with them.
Good luck with the shipment and the new car!

You know a few months ago I drove from Costa Mesa Ca to Lubbock Texas in ONE DAY 1,100 miles with a hour stop at a Casino to take some of their money. And that was driving a Merc SUV !!! This is only a 10 hour drive ! Just fly there and be home THAT NIGHT. It is maybe 2 tanks of gas !

An airline ticket might cost you the same as a shipping charge.....
My GTS was just shipped via Intercity with fantastic results. I have personally used them, Exotic Car Transport and Thomas C. Sunday all with good results. I have also used VIP Transport, they tie the cars down with chains over the axles. 6 months after I got the car I replaced the left rear axle! Whatever you do, do NOT use VIP or DAS. DAS is a broker and they will take your car to an impound lot or a wrecking yard until they find a truck for it. Depending on how far they haul it, the car may end up in several impund lots b/f you see it.
Make sure that any carrier you use ties the cars down with straps over the tires!
Good luck.

Chuck--
good suggestions but plane ticket and gas are nearly trumped compared to hauling it. with driving it home you run, shall I say.....risks (most of them are the same as you would take on driving it anywhere, but if it breaks, you're back to hauling it somewhere....)
most carriers that use "vans" to haul, don't use straps over tires. it's usually chaindown from the under side of the car. open carriers are more likely to use straps....
being in the trucking business for over 27 years...I think I've seen it all. Maybe.....
