Post Fuel Pressure

I just finished installing a digital fuel pressure guage in my pod. Looks way cool and I will post pict. later.

I jump to 29lb of pressure at start up and move between 25 and 29 when hitting the gas.

Does this sound about right for those with guages on there 85 or 86?

Thanks.

Thurston.

Your fuel pressure at idle should be 29PSI or 2BAR. Your pressure is right.
With the engine off, the system should hold 15PSI for 15minutes. If not there is a leak in the system.
That gauge is a great diagnostic tool.

goldknight- how about posting a nice 'how to install' on that digital fuel pressure meter? I for one would like to put a gauge like that in my shark. Thanks

Tell me what you all think.

Took better parts of 8 hours to get it all done, put I took my time. Its still not perfect but I like it.

I like it a lot. Give us a list a suppliers.
Does it have a remote sensor someplace on the engine, or near the fuelpump? My CIS fuel system on my 83 Euro has alot of pressure, 75-80 psi so I wonder if that will pose a problem.

It would real nice to be able to see your pressure change with a rising rate fuel pressure regulator.

Also, I would probably mount it in the dash consol instead of the pod to save all that work.

I got the parts from summit racing. The sender unit under the hood is pretty good sized, but mounts in the same spot the mechanical gauge would go.( on the fuel rail) The guage is part number M8043-A and reads 0-100 PSI. The sending unit is part number S8434.

To do this job you need nevers of steel, a good soilder gun 3ft of 20pin ribon cable, a dremel and a very sharp razor knife.

Basically the only thing to look out for when pulling apart the cluster and removing the Tach. Is be very carefull with the needles. They bend if you look at them wrong and are a bear to get to look straight again. Also make a note of where the needle points at rest so you can line it up again.

Thats great. I have my Summit catalog right on my desk, and whata-ya-know, there it is on page 180, a Nordskog gauge.

Since I don't have fuel rails on my CIS system, just a half inch steel pipe, I need to figure out a way to graft the sensor in there. I would guess the supply line to the fuel distributor and not the return line. Metric to AN fittings can be a real pain in the butt.

Thanks for the info, Thurston
