Dude,

As an investment (as others have said) I don't think the 928 is your answer. Let me clarify that: As a financial investment the 928 isn't your answer. However, I would say that based on this thread:

a) money is no object
b) you like the 928 in general and
3) clearly you don't care what other people think of your choices, regardless of the fact that you've asked for opinions.

You should buy a really nice 5-speed, and then proceed to put a supercharger in it so that one day next spring, in the middle of the day, when you look up from your investment portfolio and think about that car in the driveway it will make you giggle like a little kid knowing you'll be driving that later.

"I assume you are practicing what you preach and it just isn't showing up yet? Welcome....both of you."

1) He didnt seem to know about the full membership, I informed him of such
2) I purchased a membership to 928OC when I first got my car
3) After spending 4+ K on a transmission, cash is a little tight
4) I am still trying to get a feel for this board. Some times posts are received with warm response, other times its cool and edgy. I dont have problems supporting some where I can call my 928 "home", still trying to make that call.

Welcome to the asylum Candleman, your freshness in this thread sure made me chuckle this afternoon - nice quick break!
You'll do well on Rennlist, but you must must must go into the OT section and begin posting there - bunch of great, understanding types who love noobes. gotta be a member first tho...
If you really want an investment grade 928, do a search and look at Chuck Z's Kermit - an OB in perfect condition. You'll have to promise not to drive it though! Other than that, aren't too many good investment grade sharks...Enjoy!

All you need to do is grow a thick skin and send in your money@!!

Candleman, congradulations on your windfall. I just bought my car this fall, finally making enough to afford a USED sportscar, so I kind of had a similar feeling. Unlike you, I'm a bit tapped out now of spare cash, and have to carefully watch my spending or I'll be living in my 928 (gee, it's so easy to spend money on these cars). But I digress.
Enjoy your cars. Maybe a motorcycle for thrills. I don't think 928's are going to be a great investment, more of an average one IF you can keep it in mint condition and avoid the temptation of driving it, which I cannot. If you're looking for collectible cars, there are probably better choices. But if you're looking for something really fun to drive at your chosen price zone, yeah, maybe the strosek car might be nice. Me, I'd use my new found cash to just take extra time off from work and drive my car more. You can always make more money; time seems to slip through the fingers though.
If you really want fun for your money, maybe pick up a 928 of any type, rebuild it entirely, and go racing. Now there's a real fast way to shed cash.

Ha. Misspelled the word criticism while critiquing another person's spelling.

Hey now theres' the best idea yet. Instead of buying some poseur collector's car, build or buy a 928 race car and go racing with your new found $.

Candleman is probably still nursing his killer hangover ...

Oh yeah, and welcome telidor99

Yeah but don't forget the customary rite of passage: posting on the 951 forum and take at least 3 of them down without getting banned.

Candleman supercharge or turbo the one you got for a fun car, and buy this one for your low mileage investment...

This thread is going to get really good.

Membership? Yea, it shows some that you are not a total corksucker, just looking for kicks. Means you are serious about your "investment".

Is it nesessary? (sp) no. Will some spend more time answering your posts? Maybe. Depends on if you act like a dork, or not. There have been others that bought a membership thinking they were on the right track to getting questions answered, opinions or otherwise. Some were corect, some where not.

If you spend most of your time axin if you should buy someting, or re-engineer some things, you won't be taken serious. That is the Danglerb reference. He made himself famous by asking things that really didn't pertain to ownership of a car, just an overactive mind, on meth. That and 1200 posts in 6 months while staying out of Off Topic.

Good luck bud, welcome to the extra 20k you have, now choose wisely.

*did I misspel anything?

Success isnt a dirty word, Our family businesses (we have 2) have done well in the past couple years and it is OK to reap the rewards from time to time. I always stay humble though, things can always go sour at the blink of an eye. Buy the 928 you want and have a blast with it. If people say "it must be nice" you tell them, God damn right it is.
