Post Pulled fuse to ace the PSD and...

lost the ABS (expected) but also lost the speedometer! Anyway around this? The car feels much better off the line and in the corners without that damn electronic diff.

The odometer also stopped counting as well.

LB,

Well, yes and no. The bad news is that the PSD and ABS are an integrated system - they use the same computer to do their work. The PSD equipped cars use the wheel sensors to determine vehicle speed for the ABS,PSD, and speedometer. As such, you power down the computer and, voila, no speedo/odo. I imagine you pulled the fuse at the fuse panel to do the deed.

You could pull the fuse that is solely for the PSD pump. It is located in the spare tire well. This will disable the pump, and should leave the ABS and speedo/odo functional. There are a couple of drawbacks to this approach though. The first will be that the computer will sense an error condition, and display it for your unending pleasure. The second, (which I would be slightly more concerned about) is that you will now have a (rather expensive) device just kinda hanging around on your car. Like many things automotive, if you don't use it, you lose it - i.e. things tend to malfunction/corrode when left idle for extended periods. Did I mention those pumps aren't cheap?

Perhaps you could wire a switch inline with the fuse (heavy duty 20+ AMP rated) allowing the normal functionality of the PSD most of the time, with the ability to switch it off as desired.

HTH,

Greg

LB,
This from a while back - digging in the archives but since I know this one - the location you need is the front (car) of the tire well behind a curved black plastic trim above the battery cables...

I didn't even realize this came off - there is some kind of clip & screw retaining it and on mine some stuck down carpet material covering most of it - revelation - a bunch of stuff hiding underneath...
