Unfortunately, this is neither uncommon or even the worst I have seen.
It would appear that shops that usually do fairly good work on run-of-the-mill upholstery, find themselves at a loss when dealing with the 928 covers. Especially the inserts. Few are sewn properly and even less are installed properly.
Cheap sub-par covers are popping up everywhere. Badly designed covers can be a challenge for even an experienced trimmer, but when these things are installed by someone with no experience in auto trimming or even little experience in Recaro seats, it's a disaster waiting to happen.

I remember there was a GTS owner in Denver, who had bought a new leather cover for his drivers seat. It looked absolutely terrible next to the original passenger seat. Like in the picture above, the whole thing appeared to be lose and sloppy. Not sure, if he hever got it fixed, but I'm sure I would not have accepted it that way...
