Sensor and wiring

Spent a few minutes changing the chassis/engine ground (pass. side). Very easy task. Changed out the Battery/alt power lead, also easy. Though a little time consuming due to all of those split block clamps with the fold back metal tab keepers.
Anyhow, I decided to lay a white sheet out under the car to gather light for pictures without a flash. Of course, this gave me so much light I realized a little clean-up to prevent embarassment was in order. You know the drill...
Once you get started you can't stop.
Motor mounts are history, minor weeping, engine cooling fins -cleaned by putting on an old T-shirt and wiggling alot-.
I digress...between the oil filter and the alternator bottom of engine is a shiny sensor sorta' shaped like a thermostat with two boot capped wires going into the sensor. Bayonet type connectors with the blades protruding from sensor. Is this the oil pressure sender?
The reason I ask is that I noticed even before cleaning here that the wires -about 1 1/2" prior to arriving at boot/cap- are no longer insulated. It looks as tho' the insulation was slit and the twisted wire pulled away from the insulation altogther. Very oily. Will splicing/soldering upset any voltage values here?
If I had to guess I'd say the wire was crushed out during oil change by a filter wrench.
Also will need help loading the flicks to a been there done that post.
TIA

John,
Yes that's the oil pressure sender.
The wires to this sender are in a bad environmental, and most are oily due to small oil leak from the sender and the connections to the oil cooler.
But simply disconnect and repair the wires and there insulation - I think the best is to use shrink sleeves as insulation.
I do not understand what you mean with:
'Also will need help loading the flicks to a been there done that post'
Good luck

Thanks Erik,
As to the flicks -digital pictures-,.
I was facinated by several photo programs I had uploaded several years ago and never used.
No matter how bad the light I can generate a clear picture or slide. My problem is that while I can bounce the pictures from program to program easily but don't know how to upload. Since I don't have a home page/web site and have had difficulties posting flicks in the past I will need some assistance uploading. The reason for the flicks is to simplify identifying various pieces of our sHARKs. An illustrated, descriptive maintenance 'what it is and how to get at it' series if you will. Tony -Vegas, Baby!) has a great site I would like to model this after.
If I could talk John D. into it -flicks eat space- it would be nice to have a library of photo's with commentary, parts and tool list. to do a specific task on a specific model.

It's kewl that you folks mention this, because a few months back I started taking pics here and there so that if I ever tore something apart and needed to see how it looked originally, I would be able to reference it on my laptop. I've got a couple dozen odd pics of my '85 to share if anything ever gets set up.
