Could someone please tell me what the correct black is for the window trim? (Windshield, rear quarters, and hatch).
When I respray it, I'd like to use the correct stuff.
Thanks,
Bob

Nicole. Thanks! The current stuff just had to go. I was either a bit faded or chiped, so I took it all off (razor blade worked amazingly well), and want to shoot it next week. (gonna have to dust off the old "thumb gun").
FYI........Your car is stunning, to say the least!!

Bob,
You might try Wurth Satin Black Trim Paint. I haven't used it but the description sounds like exactly what you're after. Also, Wurth typically make excellent products.
Car Care Specialties sell it.

I had purchased a complete used rear hatch set that was beat, prepped them and used an off the shelf smie-flat black spray paint. They look beautiful.
I don't recall what brand it was, but I'm sure I got it at Home Depot.

I've heard of two things being done to trim:
1. Soak a piece of steel wool in WD-40 and rub it on the trim....quickly removes oxidation. This worked well on my car...
2. Procure some aluminum window paint and shoot the parts. This is a dark brown paint designed for the aluminum trim around home windows- it works wonders with car trim as well.
Good luck-

Bob,
I painted my trim lists years ago, and the result is still very good. I used MOTIP spray can colour no 46830 - See <a href="http://www.motip.nl/duits/splash-motip-nl.html" target="_blank">http://www.motip.nl/duits/splash-motip-nl.html</a>
I do not know if you can this this in US, but it seams they are in cooperation with PRESTO
Here in Europe that's sold via car parts shops and they have an extensive colour program and colour card from where you can choose the colour and surface as you like
To get a good/professional result you have to carefully remove the trim list and sand them with very fine wet sanding - Here in Europe 1200 to 1500 (What the car painter are useing as last last sanding)
Note the rear side window trim list is tricky to reinstall without removing the windows and the rubber sealing, but if they never had been removed that can be a good mission to remove them - very often they are leaking, not only between the rubber and the window, but also between the rubber seal and the chassis.
PS: I saw somewhere a fix how to install the trim list without removing the window - Devek tech. tip or Rennlist, I cannot remember, but I think I can find, so come back if you run into problem.

Bob...Here in Canada we have available to us a Black spray paint called Euro Black...European Black, is a nice satin, or fine flat black type finish. It is a trim and bumper paint sold by a company called Pro Form out of Milton Ontario. Here is a phone number to them and mayby they can tell you who carries it in the US..800 387 7981 or 905-878-4990 I took these numbers off of the can that I have here .I've used quite a bit of this paint and it seems to stand up very good to the elements here in Ontario. I hope this helps you..Good Luck Bill 84 928s Ontario Canada

I knew there was something I wanted to add to the previous post...The Paint code on the spray can is PF-515 I hope they still make it. I have more spots to touch up myself. Maybe I'll be asking you what you recommend...Regards Bill 84 928s

Without wanting to incriminate mysellf too much...
The Explorer has a habit of losing the paint on the wiper arms. I cured it with some satin black Rust-Oleum from Home Depot. Prep is a bit of sanding with wet-or-dry 400, and scotch-brite between coats. Semi-gloss will ytake wax if you insist, something the 'flat' finishes will never do. Might be worth a try if you don't have the Wurth in your paint locker already.
