eeeeeeeyep! Not good, the only way this could happen is your guide is fubar'd. But then again, there are crazy unexplained phenomenon's like a PO (or you) that bent a shaft getting a gear off the wrong way causing a wobble in the sprocket. I would pull the coil wires, spin the motor and watch what happens with the spinning bits. Good luck!

That reminds me of my very first S2 - Looked down the peep hole and the belt was a 1/4 forward - Found the bolt that holds the tension arm on broke in 2.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

You have such nice pictures of your timing belt, what about some family photos...

I guess If I can dish it huh! anyway here is a pix of me at the doc office.

Ed, That is not really a peep hole, it is a breather hole. You may beable to see the belt. But the best way is to pull the passenger side cover. The whole thing shoudl take you maybe 1/2 hour. 15 min if you have done it before. You have to remove the dist (3 FLAT HEAD SCREWS, ON ONE EACH SIDE AND ONE ON TOP) Then a 10mm socket. a few bolts that hold on the cover. Then work the cover off.

You will get a much better view and with the damage that can occure with a belt failure, you want a good look. What if you get the cover off and you see the belt is cracking on the inside of the belt; the part you can not see through the breather hole? TB is just not something to mess around with. It's one job that has to be right 110%

With that rant said, Im sure mine will fail next summer now, if it even gets out of the garage.. "where is the shoot yourself in the foot," smiley?

why, yes, yes it is.. To this day I still kick myself in the butt for not going to see him right before he was killed. I remember hearing he was near and I thought to myself,"I'll catch him next time".... well a week later that thought was proved very wrong. This guys recordings put me in tears with laughter when I hear them. Him and Rodney Dangerfield, ya know....
