Stock spare and 17inch wheels?
While considering subwoofer placement options I started to wonder: Will the stock collaspable spare be usable on a car with 17 inch wheels?

Hi Jessa:
The critical function of spare wheel size is whether it will clear your brakes. On both cars that you have, the spare in the car will do fine since you don't have GTS brakes. The not-so-critical part of the size is how close the OD is to what you have moounted on the car. From memory from Devek Days, on the 'new' car you have techno-twist 17's with 911- or 986- size tires. If my memory is correct, your existing spare will be quite serviceable, since the tire diameters are quite close.
I'm sure it's possible to mount a slightly smaller woofer inside the spare well with the tire still installed. You'll be limited on size to 8" for practical purposes, but your ears are still young and not yet deafened by years of loud music and loud engines. Maybe the smaller woof will be OK today and for at least a few years to come.
Hope all is well with your collection of early '80s toys!

Jessa,
Nice car (saw it @ DEVEK event).
Per Dr.Bob, assuming you stick with your stock brakes all around, your spare will work fine.
For your sub, consider the new dual voice coil, aluminum cone Eclipse (available in various sizes). Or a Nakamichi. Both very clean.
